Mr. Robert C. "Bob" Mitzler

Mr. Robert C. “Bob” Mitzler, age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at The Pines at Utica. Born in Utica on April 15, 1930, Bob was the son of the late Leo M. and Arvita C. (Olmstead) Mitzler. He was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1948. A United States Army Veteran, Bob was proud to have served his country from 1951-1953. On September 11, 1954 he married the former Delores A. Alito; the couple shared 62 years of love and devotion. Bob worked as a Supervisor at the General Electric Company at the Broad Street Plant until his retirement in 1985. He was a parishioner of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. Bob is survived by his wife, Delores; his daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lourdes and Bernie DePasquale and his family of Tonawanda NY, Lynn Ann and Andrew Dewhurst of Kokomo IN, and Maureen and Victor Wroblewski of Carmel IN; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert Mark and Kathryn Mitzler of Greece NY; his grandchildren, Michael Saladino; Andrew Dewhurst Jr., Stephanie Dewhurst, Lauren and Brayden Merrell, Christine Dewhurst, Erica and Nicholas Allen, Kia and Michael Smith, Jocelyn Wroblewski; Meredith Mitzler, Ryan Mitzler, and Benjamin Mitzler; and his great-grandson, Cameron Allen. He will also be missed by his sisters and brother-in-law, Margaret M. Dodge, Carol Mitzler, Joyce E. and William E. Dempsey, Sharon S. Siemers, and Suzanne Vassallo; and in-laws, Roberta Mitsler, Joan and Nicholas Piperata, and Patricia Alito. He was predeceased by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Catherine M. and Richard F. Palczynski, Joan A. and Alphonse P. Caporale, and Beverly and J. William Canfield; his brother, William Mitsler, Leo M. and Grace Mitsler; and his in-laws, John S. Vassallo, Pasquale A. Alito, Dominick Bonanza, Anne E. and Sam Fusco, Sally Cummings, Philomena M. and Frederick Dziuban, and Donald Dodge. The family extends their gratitude to the personnel at The Pines at Utica, particularly the 3rd Floor unit; and the nurses and certified nurse assistants for the care and compassion they rendered to Bob during his stay. The family will honor and commemorate Bob’s life in a private gathering. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Bob's funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Thursday morning at 11:00 at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Joseph Salerno with Military Honors conferred. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Our love for him will remain in our hearts and we will forever miss him.
