Mr. Robert M. "Bob" Cotter

Mr. Robert M. “Bob” Cotter, age 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Siegenthaler Center with his loving family by his side. Born in Utica on January 22, 1933, Robert was the son of the late James E. and Anna R. (Jones) Cotter. He was raised and educated locally. At one time, he was married to the former Bernadette Murphy who passed away in 1988. He was blessed with a second nuptial when he wed the former Charlotte F. Pantola on December 30, 1994, a loving union of 20 years. Bob was employed by the federal government for 23 years at McClellan Air Force Base/Civil Engineering Center in California prior to working at Griffiss Air Force Base in Electronics and Procurement, retiring in 1970. Bob was a caring and affectionate man, who viewed life with much optimism. He was generous to his wife and family and placed them above all. He was an avid fisherman, on Onieda Lake and was nicknamed “Walleye Bob”. He was a member of the Elks Club in Utica and in Sacramento CA. Bob was a parishioner of Sacred Heart & St. Mary’s Church. Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Charlotte; his step-children, Michael and Nancy Stark of NY Mills, David and Tina Stark of Sauquoit, and Linda Stark of OH; and step-grandchildren, Peter Palko, Daniel Palko, and Jessica and Scott Izyk who were united in marriage on the day of Bob’s passing. He will remain in the hearts of his special nieces and nephews, Nancy Howland LaBelle who was so very attentive to her uncle, and her husband Michael, John and Andrea Cotter, and JoAnn and Jerry Tom; great-niece, Greta Tom, great-nephew Caleb Tom; cousins; and in-laws, Trudy Murphy, Jane Blaszcak, Rita Milewski, Frank F. Pantola, and John and Genevieve Allen. He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. James E. and Ruth Cotter; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Carl Sieg, and Ruth and Lyle Howland, as well as members of Charlotte’s family. Charlotte wishes to thank the dedicated and empathetic staff of the Siegenthaler Center for all the care and attention shown to Bob and his family. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc, 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. in lieu of floral offerings; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Robert’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Thursday morning at 10:00 at Sacred Heart/St. Mary's Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, New York Mills where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Arthur Krawczenko. Interment will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
