Mr. Richard L. Kimball

Mr. Richard L. “Dick” Kimball, age 75, of New Hartford, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, after a brief illness. Richard was born in Newburgh, NY on September 5, 1935, the son of the late Lee and Pat (Macheski) Kimball. He was raised and educated in Utica and furthered his studies at M.V.C.C. and Paul Smith’s College of the Adirondacks. A proud veteran, he honorably served his country in the United States Air Force where he also met his future bride. On October 14, 1961 he married the former Rita M. Reich; they honored their 49 year union through their mutual love and dedication. Dick retired from Kogut Electric where he worked in his profession as an electrical estimator. At one time he was also employed with Powerline Constructors, and Dale Engineering. Dick’s family was the spark of his life and the reason for his happiness. As a father, he cared for his family and tried to instill in them good values through his guidance. A knowledgeable and perceptive patriarch, he was blessed with a keen intellect. During his leisure time, he enjoyed pursuing photography, traveling to the Finger Lakes Wine Tours, and camping in the Adirondacks, an activity he loved. He was a member of the New Hartford Jaycees and the Mohawk Travel Trailers Club, and a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Dick is survived by his wife, Rita; his sons and daughters-in-law, Todd R. and Cheryl Kimball of Canandaigua, NY, and Jeffrey W. “Jeff” and Eleanor N. “Elly” Kimball of New Hartford; and his grandson, Roman Elliot Kimball. He cherished the memory of his grandson, Owen Riley Kimball, who passed away on October 9, 2001. In addition, he leaves his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Mabel Kimball of Westmoreland; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, especially acknowledging Helen Quimby, his in-laws residing in Washington and Wisconsin, and his friends, Barb Chilton, Paula and Dale Klingensmith, and Tom and Bert Maloy. He was predeceased by his friend, Richard “Dick” Chilton. The family appreciates the care and compassion rendered to Dick by the doctors, nurses, and staff of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Visitation will be held Friday (today) from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Richard’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday morning at 10:00 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church where his Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors will be offered by Rev. Felix Colosimo. “It mut be 5:00 somewhere”
