Phyllis L. (Liberatore) Kaczowka

Mrs. Phyllis L. (Liberatore) Kaczowka, age 71, of Utica, passed away following a lengthy illness on Friday, March 25, 2011 at The Highlands at Brighton in Rochester with the support of her loving family. Born in Utica on September 20, 1939, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna (Morlando) Liberatore. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. At one time she was wed to James Davis. On July 18, 1973 she was blessed with a second union when she married Joseph Kaczowka; the couple shared a loving union until Joseph’s passing on October 7, 1987. At one time, Phyllis held a position at the Masonic Home as an aide. More recently she worked at the Canteen Company. A caring and loving woman, she felt that her family was a gift that she cherished, and she was happiest when she was surrounded by her loved ones. During her leisure time, she enjoyed playing bingo and participated in various local Senior Centers. Phyllis is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Richard Pierce of Frankfort, and Renee and Gary Taylor of Whitesboro; her son, Richard Liberatore of N. Utica with whom she resided; and her cherished grandchildren, Jade and David Beauharnois of Latham, NY, and Sara Pierce of Frankfort. In addition, she leaves her sisters and brothers-in-law, Theresa and Robert Fehr of FL, Rosemary Valenti of Utica, Santina Ingersoll of Remsen, and Nancy and James Jankiewicz of Utica; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Margaret Liberatore of Rochester, and William and Eva Liberatore of Utica. Her extended family includes her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Liberatore. She was predeceased by her sister, Beatrice “Pat” Garcia; her brothers, Earl Liberatore, and Anthony Liberatore; and her nephew, Christopher Jankiewicz. Phyllis’ son Richard wishes to acknowledge the countless acts of love and devotion provided by his sister, Christine, who so lovingly gave of herself throughout her mother’s illness. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00-6:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, 932 South St., corner of Hammond. Phyllis’ funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Tuesday evening at 6:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Rev. Anthony P. LaFache officiating the ceremony. Inurnment will take place in St. Stanislaus and Casmir Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
