Mr. Philip A. Saporito, Sr.

UTICA - Mr. Philip A. Saporito, Sr., age 73, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the St. Luke’s Home with his loving family by his side. Born in Utica on December 6, 1944, Philip was the son of the late Dominick and Angeline (Gaetano) Saporito. A graduate of T.R. Proctor High School, he furthered his studies at MVCC where he received a degree in Advertising Design and Production. A United States veteran, he was proud to serve his country as a reservist in the Army National Guard. On May 25, 1968 he married Teresa M. Seminaro with whom he shared over 50 years. Philip held a position at Canterbury Press of Rome, NY as a lithographic artist for more than 30 years until his retirement. Philip loved his family more than anything else; he was the happiest when he was with them. He was his grandkids’ #1 fan, rooting for them no matter what the event or sport. He enjoyed antiquing and collecting model trains and sports cards, especially hockey. He cherished his many precious canine companions. True to the meaning of his last name, 'sweet and tasty', his family will always remember his fondness for sweets, especially chocolate fingers! With his beautiful sense of humor, Philip had the natural ability to make people laugh and smile. Philip is survived by his wife, Teresa; his daughters and son-in-law, Bernadette and Kevin Todd, and Nicole Romeo and Dominick Puleo, all of Utica; his son and daughter-in-law, Philip “P.J.” and Deana Saporito of Marcy; his grandchildren, Kevin, Matthew, Sydney, Jensen; Grant, Jordan, Alexis, Lila; Christopher, Pierce, Vincent, and Angelina. He leaves his in-laws and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard Saporito and Salvatore Saporito. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff of the St. Lukes Home, especially Mr. McCoy, Deshaun, Annisa, Maria, and Jose at St. Lukes Hospital. In keeping with Philip’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Philip’s Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday, February 17th at 11:30am at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where his Mass will be offered by Rev. Mark Kaminski with Military Honors conferred. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. Inurnment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
