Peter T. (Pete) Miner Sr.

Mr. Peter T. “Pete” Miner, Sr., age 70, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with his loving family by his side. Peter was born in Utica on November 12, 1941, the son of the late Leslie and Ruth (Heinrich) Miner. He was raised and educated locally. At one time he was married to the former Florence Dewhurst. Peter was competent in many endeavors during his career years. He took on many versatile ventures during his lifetime, from working in Real Estate to owning a Home Improvement company. Lastly, he worked at Vicks Lithograph & Printing Corporation, the position from which he retired. He had an inimitable sense of humor, loved to travel the east coast of the United States with his family, and made the most of his life. His grandchildren were the light of his life. Peter was blessed with a second union on April 28, 1998 when he married the former Tarolyn M. Walters who passed away on May 4, 2002. A cheerful and caring person, Peter was involved with the American Cancer Society’s annual Relay For Life fundraiser event as a volunteer and a cancer survivor. Among his many favorite pastimes, he found pleasure in maintaining his aquariums and sharing time with his daughter’s canine companion. Peter is survived by his daughters, Leslie Miner of Utica, and Liz and Jean Levesque of Yorkville. Close to his heart was the memory of his daughter, Theresa, who preceded him in death. He also leaves his sons, Peter Miner, Jr. of Hinckley, Michael Miner and Colleen Jennings, and Gary Miner and Catherine Farr, all of Utica; his grandchildren, Zach, Nick, Thomas, Michelle, Cheryl, Michael Joseph, Audriana and Tiffany, Michael Jr., Andrew, and Deanna; and several great-grandchildren. In addition, he leaves his brothers and sister-in-law, Gary and Felicia Burak of New Hartford, and David and Marcia Miner of Rhode Island; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, and Norma Crossett who was his special friend since childhood, Angel Guarno who was like a daughter, and Fred Jacobs, Sr. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Miner. The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Atul Butala, and the nurses and staff of the Critical Care Unit at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center for all their care and attention. Peter’s family celebrated and honored his life in a private gathering. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
