Patsy L. Leone, Jr.

Mr. Patsy L. Leone, Jr., age 73, of Schuyler, passed away in the comfort of his home on Thursday, April 5, 2007, after a brief illness. Born in Utica on February 27, 1934, Patsy was the son of the late Pasquale “Patsy” Sr. and Florence (Rocco) Leone. Raised and educated in Utica, he was a graduate of T. R. Proctor High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran. On May 13, 1961 he married the former Violet A. Tanzi with whom he shared 45 years in a loving and devoted union. As a teenager, along with his father and brothers, Patsy worked for P. Leone & Sons Livestock. He later founded and served as president of Amco Pac. He also operated and served as an officer with Party Packing, Inc. For the last 30 years, up until the time of his passing, Patsy owned and operated P. Leone & Sons. Most people work to live --- Patsy lived to work. His true passion was to travel the countryside in search of cattle. It was not unusual for him to rise at 5 a.m. and visit local farmers to buy or sell livestock. He formed long lasting relationships which he cherished up to his passing. The name “Patsy” was known from the Adirondack to the Catskill Mountains. Patsy was a parishioner of both St. Mark’s and St. Anthony of Padua Churches. He is survived by his wife, Violet; his daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Massimo Cascini of Utica; his sons, Patsy Leone, Esq. of Utica, and John Leone of Orlando, FL; and his cherished granddaughter, Marina Cascini of Utica. Also surviving are his sisters and brother-in-law, Mary DiGristina of Schuyler, and Angeline “Shirley” and Frank Cannistra of Whitesboro; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank B. and Grace Leone of Utica, Joseph V. and Flora Leone of New Hartford, Anthony P. Leone of Barneveld, and Russell F. and Laura Leone of Utica; his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; his mother-in-law, Mary Tanzi of Utica; and his in-laws, Kathleen and Frank Martello of New Hartford. He was predeceased by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Carmella and John Caputo, Theresa M. and Alfred Stivali, Lena H. Bruzzese Papa and her husbands, Paul Bruzzese and Anthony Papa, and Kathryn A. and Frank Delia; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Victor C. Sr. and Carmella “Cora” Leone, and Rocco A. Sr. and Angeline Leone; his in-laws, Charles DiGristina, Dorothy May Leone; his father-in-law, John F. Tanzi; and several nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held Monday from 4-8 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mr. Leone’s Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Patsy will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
