Mrs. Patricia A. (Marchese) Tolfa

NEW HARTFORD - Mrs. Patricia A. "Patty" (Marchese) Tolfa passed away peacefully on Friday, January, 13, 2023 with dignity, in the comfort of her home with her husband by her side. At the time of her passing, those she loved most were in her heart. Born in Utica, Patricia was the daughter of the late Nicholas R. “Nick” and Delphine “Dottie” (DiCuffo) Marchese. She was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1969. On September 1, 1979 Patty married Robert G. “Rob” Tolfa with whom she shared 43 years of happiness and harmony. They complemented each other and were a perfect match of personalities. Rob doted upon her and Patty saw his admiration by the look in his eyes. Rob and Patty operated the Utica Spray & Chemical Company that was established by Rob’s dad, Guido Tolfa. Patty was raised in a loving Italian household where she learned from her mom that family was always first. Rob marveled at her strength of character and attention to their daughter’s needs as well as their two granddaughters who learned to know her from the moment they came into the world. “Glamma” was her title and she shared precious time with the girls. She cared for them and engrained in them her valued ways of life. Patty was a fashionista, admired for having it together. She was organized, stylish, passionate about shopping, and prudent and tasteful with her purchases. She was a seasoned gal of grace and graciousness. She always cherished her friendships, whether old or new. She was genuinely interested in people, and was respectful and trusting of time spent in conversations. With her engaging personality, she spoke her mind with good intentions, and her integrity was heard in her words. A gracious hostess, she was diligent when planning an event, and she thought of every detail, and then some! She was blessed with wonderful friendships, and although there were many, she enjoyed being with Gina (and late Luca) Esposito who introduced Patty and Rob to the world of ballroom dancing where many couples became precious friends who shared the dance floor, including Filomain and Joe Talerico, Vickie and Ed Fisher, Betsy and Drew Donovan, Sue and Bob Warwick, and Betty and Phil Montana. They dined out and savored the best social life ever, and they didn’t miss a step! Even at home, she enjoyed walking with Rob, touring the neighborhood for exercise and socialization. Patty shared a life well-lived, … with her husband by her side. Patty honored her Catholic creed and attended Mass for peace of mind, and trust in the word of God. She was a spiritual woman who loved the Lord, and a faithful parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Patty is survived by her devoted husband, Rob; her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Marita and Don Laribee; her princess grandchildren, Leonella and Lucia; brother and sister-in-law, Martin and Maggie Marchese; and sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Terrance Jones. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews, Tatum Marchese, Ryan and Wendy Marchese, Talia and John Doti, Santina and Kelly Gordon, Serina and Nicholas Gentile, and Michelina Marchese; and Maryssa and Brandon Batson; great-nieces, great-nephews; aunt, Johanna McTiernan and family; cousins, especially Dolores Salerno; in-laws who she loved as her own siblings, Dr. Debra and George Veit, Ginny Tolfa and Robert Harry, and Larry and Lisa Tolfa; and friends, Filomain Talerico who graced Patty in her time of need, constant phone calls, and a friendship that was filled with compassion; Vickie Fisher, Betsy Donovan, and Sue Warwick who equally gave of themselves and sent their love and concern. She was predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Guido P. “Skeets” and Margaret (Rich) Tolfa; and her aunts and uncle, Mary DiCuffo, and Josephine and Peter Marasco. The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Matthew Ulahannan, primary physician who became a cherished friend; Dr. Atul Butala who she trusted and appreciated his sensitivity in communicating; and Fr. Joe Salerno and Fr. Jim Cesta for their support and prayers of comfort. Visitation will be held Thursday January 19, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Patricia’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, 648 Jay St., where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Entombment will take place in Christ Our Savior Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
