Patricia A. Mitchell

Patricia A. Mitchell, age 49, of New Hartford, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2012 in the comfort and dignity of her home. Born in New Hartford on June 14, 1962, Patricia was the daughter of Winifred “Winnie” (Abbott) Mitchell and the late Louis Joseph Mitchell, Sr. She was a graduate of New Hartford High School Class of 1981. An outgoing, happy-go-lucky, vivacious woman, she touched many lives, easily making life-long friendships. She was fun-loving, always had a smile upon her face and had an innocent and trusting way, inspiring those around her. Patricia never allowed life’s trials to suppress her beautiful spirit or her great inner strength. Her feelings for her family were foremost and she bonded with her nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to her as “Auntie”. During her leisure time, she crafted ceramics and listened to music. She was an avid fan of Michael Bolton who she knew personally, he would pick her out of a crowd at concerts to sing to her! Patricia was a member of St. Louis Gonzaga Church and an honorary member of the St. Mary’s Guild. Patricia is survived by her mother, Winnie Mitchell; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Louis, Jr. and Jennifer (Green) Mitchell of Bremerton, WA, Anthony J., Sr. and Brenda (Farmer) Mitchell of New York Mills, and Michael J., Sr. and Elizabeth (Doolen) Mitchell of Whitesboro; her nieces and nephews, Gary, Araya, William, and Hannah, Morgan, Anthony Jr., Nicholas, Michael Jr., and Ryan; several aunts, uncles, cousins, especially George Mitchell; her godmother, Judy (Abbott) Lawrence; and her lifelong friends, Cynthia (Evans) Terrier, and Brenda (Evans) Urbanke; Cynthia’s daughter, Tiffany; and many friends too numerous to mention. Her friends sustained her life and gave her the drive to live every day to its fullest. She was predeceased by her uncle and godfather, Anthony J. Mitchell. The family wishes to extend thanks to the Kavod Road staff, especially her caregivers, Paula, Missy, and Diane. Visitation will be held Tuesday 4:00-7:00 at St. Louis Gonzaga Church, 520 Rutger St., Utica. The Prayer of Incense will be offered at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia’s honor - to the Chapel Fund at St. Louis Gonzaga Church – are welcomed. Patricia’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday morning at 10:00 at St. Louis Gonzaga Church where the Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed will be celebrated by Chorbishop John D. Faris. Committal service and interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
