Olympia "Beba" (Pietrantuono) McAleese

Mrs. Olympia “Beba” (Pietrantuono) McAleese, age 91, of Utica, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Masonic Care Community of NY with the love and support of her family. Olympia was born in Utica on April 14, 1920, the daughter of the late Giovanni Battista and Maria (Carcione) Pietrantuono. She was raised and educated locally. On April 18, 1955 she wed William J. McAleese with whom she shared a loving marriage of 52 years until his passing on September 24, 2007. Beba held employment with the General Electric Company Radio/Receiver plant on Bleecker Street for 25 years. As a loving and very family-oriented aunt, she enjoyed a special bond with her nieces and nephews, and participated in family activities and special occasions together. A nurturer by nature, she shared her heart with all her loved ones, and was a genuine matriarch of her family. She was a second mother to her nieces and nephews, and welcomed everybody to her home. She pursued arts and crafts in her leisure time, and took pleasure in traveling to Florida to spend winters in the sun. She also had a fancy for shopping with her sisters, and a bent for bingo. She was devoted to her patron Saint, Anthony, and was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Beba is survived by her nieces and nephews, Ann Marie Killino, Joann and Mike Motto, Fred and Lucia Frontera, Rosemary and Andrew Anguish, Civita and Thomas Brown, Clareen Miserantino, John and Bonnie Pietrantuono, Peter and Elizabeth Caruso, Judy and Olin Roberts, and Carolyn, Robin, Sim, Greg, and Rosalie; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Michael and Gina, Lisa, Michael III, Rene and Mitch, Elizabeth and Steve, Adrienne, Tricia and Leo, Andrea and Mark, Andy and Tara, Jason and Kim, Amy, Megan, Melissa and Josh, Deanna, Jodi, Kelley and Brian, Peter III and Stephanie, Christopher, Nate and Jenny, Adam, and Noell and Ken; her great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Michael, Jr. and Ginelle, Jenalle, Heather and Steve, Michael IV, Gianna, Sophia, Joshua, Evan, Anton, Chloe, Emily, Lonie, Gavin, and Eve; and her great-great-great-niece and nephew, Jenna, and Landon. She also leaves her Godchild, Maryann and Flavio Vesnaver. She will be missed by her canine companion, Oscar. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph F. and Marie Pietrantuono; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Edith “Ida” and Peter Caruso; Antoinette and Nicholas Guyleanella; Mary E. and Fred Frontera; her infant sister Antonia who passed away in 1909; and her in-laws, Robert and Frances McAleese, Charles and Kay McAleese, and Holly and Sim Austin. Compassionate caregivers showed much concern over the years and made Beba feel at home, and the family wishes to thank them all, especially Donna Redmond and the Guardian Angels, and the nurses and staff of the Buffalo Household at the Masonic Care Community of NY, with special acknowledgement of Marla, Hilary, and Chris McCormick. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Those wishing to express an act of kindness in the form of memorial contributions may consider the Alzheimer’s Association; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Olympia’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Friday afternoon at 1:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Anthony P. LaFache. Entombment will take place in Crown Hill Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. “What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us.
