Mr. Norman Daniel Jacobson

NEW HARTFORD – Mr. Norman Daniel Jacobson, age 72, passed after valiant efforts when it was his time to go home, on Wednesday, July 27, 2022; he was surrounded by the love of his family at the time of his earthly journey. Born in Utica on June 14, 1950, to the late Israel and Alta (Daniels) Jacobson, Norman was raised locally and educated in Utica schools. On September 13, 2014, he was united in marriage to his best friend, the former Donna A. Scarafile. Norman had a compassion for the mission statement of the CNYDDSO and he began in the position of Direct Care. He then advanced to being a Manager of the Supervised Apartment Program. He became the President of CSEA Local 414, which enabled him to set precedence by enhancing the lives of the people he served, as well as protecting the rights and standards of the employees. These roles required Norman to carry out this delicate balancing act, for which he was highly respected. Norman loved his children with every fiber of his being and was never happier than when they found their soul mates. Norm and Donna delighted in watching grandchildren Christopher, and Rheanna, mature into wonderful young adults. Later in life he was blessed with a beautiful granddaughter, Rihanna, a lively grandson, Hector, and even a great-grandson, Abel, who is an incredible little man. Moreover, Norman shared a great relationship with his sister and her husband, Carol, Robert and family. He was blessed with a wonderful bond with his Gemini buddy, Marguerite, and life-long friends, Mike and Patti DiSpirito. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Donna; as well as his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberley and Aaron Guga, and their children Christopher, and Rheanna; and his sons, David Jacobson and his daughter Rihanna. The family will always remember his wife, Karina, who passed away on April 7, 2022; Bob “Bub” Jacobson, who Norman loved with all his heart; Scott and Samantha Jacobson, and their son, Hector; and his great-grandson, Abel. Additionally, he leaves the mother of his children, Helene Jacobson, and her sister, Jennifer Tine, who was very special to him. He will live on in the hearts of his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Robert Babowicz; and his in-laws, Joseph and Gail Scarafile, Marlene and Jim Hancock, and Marguerite and Joseph Spano; a very special aunt, Elizabeth Scarafile; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Norman was preceded by his sister, Ellen Voss; and brother-in-law, Daniel Scarafile. Norman had many wonderful friendships in his lifetime, especially during his career years with those at CNYDDSO and fellow union members at CSEA Local 414. Norman also leaves behind his constant canine companion, Normando’s Sweet Tequila Sunrise aka Tikki, in addition to Corey and Isabel. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Ramzi Nassif and his staff; to Dr. N. Marino Selvarajah, and Tim Hendricks; and in conclusion, the staff of St. Joseph Hospital. Visitation will take place on Monday, August 1, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Norman’s Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life on Tuesday morning, August 2, 2022, at 11:30 at the Catholic Community of Whitesboro at St. Paul’s Church, 16 Park Ave. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
