Miss Nilsa Iris Ramos

Miss Nilsa Iris Ramos, age 34, went home to the Lord as she passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Sunday, August 23, 2015. At the time of her passing, Nilsa was in the presence of people who loved her. Born in Bronx, NY on May 13, 1981, Nilsa was the daughter of Carlos Ramos and Maria Rubert. To be closer to family and start a new beginning she relocated to Utica in 2011. Nilsa’s family was the center of her life and because she had a playful heart, her nieces, nephews, and cousins flocked to her for her ability to communicate with them with joy and an uplifting spirit. She was hospitable, kind, and giving, and she was blessed with a peaceful, happy heart. She cooked for her guests with a flair. She looked forward to Movie Night with the kids and enjoyed reminiscing fond memories and fun times that were captured in photos and videos. She also ‘got her groove on’ with all types of dancing and music. She was a “Betty Boop” collector and her artistic talents were seen in her arts and crafts. Although her health was compromised from a young age, Nilsa always rebounded and was better and stronger each time she struggled with a setback. One of her proudest moments was when she was awarded her GED, for which she diligently studied. She was admired by all for her strength of spirit inspired by her faith in the Lord and her Catholic creed. Nilsa is survived by her father, Carlos Ramos of Utica and her mother, Maria Rubert of Bronx; her sister and brother-in-law, Jasmin Ramos-Prestol and Rafael Prestol; and her brothers and their loved ones, David Ramos and Tasha Goitia, Carlos D. and Anne Marie Couvertier, Orlando Couvertier, Jovane Couvertier and Renee Pezzulo, and David Agront. She will also remain in the hearts of her aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and her best friend Graciela Adventura. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Julio Rubert and Francesca Ortiz; paternal grandparents, Bartolo Ramos and Felicita Bonet; her sister, Carmen Iris Couvertier; and her niece, Reina Luz Prestol. The family extends sincere thanks to Nilsa’s physicians and the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. for their comfort and assistance. Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon from 12-2 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Nilsa’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Rev. Luis Olguin officiating the ceremony
