Nicholas Antonio "Nick" Talerico

UTICA - Mr. Nicholas Antonio “Nick” Talerico, age 27, went home to the Lord when he passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. Born in New Hartford on June 19, 1991, Nicholas was the son of Jo-Ann (Calicchia) Velardi and the late Theodore R. “Teddy” Talerico, Jr. He also knew the guidance of his step-father Louis Velardi. He attended Albany Street Elementary School, J.F.K Middle School and T.R. Proctor High School. He continued his studies at MVCC receiving a Certificate in Asbestos Removal, and HAZMAT/OSHA training, as well as a number of other related certifications. He was blessed to be the proud dad of two sons who he adored. Nick gained employment in asbestos removal and most recently worked as a roofer for a local roofing company. His big blue eyes, his smile, and great personality were traits that people admired. He was also blessed to be charming and handsome. As a son, he was everything to his mom. He was a good brother and he loved the precious times they spent together. An amazing young man, he was respectful and blessed with the love of many friends. Nick knew the Lord and was a mighty prayer warrior from a young age. Because he had a fascination with fast things, Nick was into skateboarding, motorcycling, dirt biking, parasailing, jet skiing, ice skating, roller blading, boating, camping, and just hanging out near the water and being outdoors. Blessed with a keen intellect, he had a handle on technology. He was a computer whiz and loved the range of knowledge available on the internet. But the simple things in life were exciting, too. One of his greatest pleasures and treasures was spending time with his boys, fishing and swimming. These kids were his life, and his legacy will live on in their hearts. Nicholas is survived by his mom, Jo-Ann and his step-dad, Louis; his adored sons, Gianni Talerico, age 8, and Vincent Antonio Talerico, age 7, who looked up to his dad as his best friend; and remembering Vinny’s mother Jennifer Rae Moore who passed away on February 15, 2014; maternal grandmother, Joan Payne who has been a wonderful influence in his life; and his brothers and sisters, Noah Walker, Giovanni Luciano Calicchia who loved spending time with Nick, Angela M. Talerico, Andrea M. Talerico, and Lewis Testa. He will also remain in the hearts of his aunts, Debi Gaffey, Rochelle Torres, and the late Tina Riddell and Crystal Gaffey; his niece, Santia Merchant; a host of cousins including, Ronnie Gigliotti, Corey Talerico, William “Scooby” Smith, and especially remembering his late cousin Alex Torres; his “best boys”, Mike McCarthy who was like a brother to him, Lamarr Whitehurst, Alden Sutkovic, and Corey Ballard. He was predeceased by his aunt and special person in his life, Patricia Anne “Patty” Talerico; his maternal grandfather, Ralph Calicchia Jr.; paternal grandparents, Theodore R. Sr. and Patricia “Patty” (McKenney) Talerico; and his uncle, Ralph Gaffey. Nick’s mom Jo-Ann was comforted by the officers of the NY State Police, especially Senior Investigator Benjamin Miller who showed such kindness and concern; these difficult days have been supported and uplifted by Jo-Ann’s family, especially her sister Rochelle who has been her rock, and the outpouring of friends who shared great love, comfort, and encouragement. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-6 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Nick’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will begin at 6:00 at the funeral home.
