Mr. Nelson W. Wymes

UTICA – Mr. Nelson W. Wymes, age 67, went home to be with his Lord and his loving parents on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Nelson was born in Old Columbia, AL, to the late Nelson and Mattie Lee (Allen) Wymes. He was raised and educated in Alabama, where he graduated from high school. As a young man in 1974, Nelson came to visit his Uncle Jack Allen in Utica and, at that time, decided to establish himself locally as well. Nelson shared in a loving 39-year relationship with his life-partner and best friend, Pamela “Pam” Mozzetti. Pam thought of Nelson as “the greatest,” for he was a sweet, loving, loyal, and dependable partner. A butcher by trade, Nelson worked the duration of his career as a Meat Cutter at Gold Medal Packing, Inc. He was there for many years, having only retired two years ago. A gentle soul, Nelson took care of everyone else’s needs before his own. He even took care of all of his family—including those who had remained down south! Nelson got along with everybody and was known for his positive outlook. He never dwelt on anything negative. For fun, Nelson enjoyed football and watching episodes of Sanford and Son and old Western shows on TV. Nelson is survived by his loving partner, Pamela “Pam” Mozzetti. From a relationship with the late Kathleen Tyrrell came the blessing of two sons whom Nelson is survived by: Nelson, Jr., and Yvonne “Missy” Wymes; and Andrew and Celeste Wymes. Nelson also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jahari Brown, Madison, Nelson, Chase, and Tyler; his stepchildren, Marlene Thompson, Denise Fenimore, Cheryl Cobb, Lanette Bowens, Rocky Rock and spouse Melissa, David Mozzetti, Christina “Twink” Mozzetti and her husband John Hammell, Jennifer Mozzetti, Patricia Mozzetti and her love William Dawson; many step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren. Nelson will be fondly remembered by his sisters, Priscilla “Anne” and J.C. Bivens, Bernice Wymes; a niece, and nephews. Nelson was blessed to have had many special friends. Visitation will take place on Sunday, May 15, 2022, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Nelson’s Homegoing Service and Celebration of Life will commence after visitation at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
