Nancy (Roundy) Gonzalez

Mrs. Nancy (Roundy) Gonzalez, age 62, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with the love and support of her entire family by her side. Born in Dover, New Jersey on April 1, 1952, Nancy was the daughter of the late Clarence and Olive (Gates) Roundy. She also knew the love of her late second Dad, Walter Hallam. She was raised and educated in New Jersey. Nancy shared the love of Anibal Gonzalez, a marriage which was blessed with a bountiful and beautiful family. As the matriarch, Nancy loved and treated each of her children in a special way, and her grandchildren held a deep place in her heart. She treasured the memories made every 4th of July at her family reunion at Hinkley Lake. Nancy was skilled in crocheting and she found the time and energy to create countless colorful blankets for her children who will treasure them forever because their mother made them with so much love. Nancy knew her Lord, and her worldly wealth came in the form of her beloved family. She was a mother to many and all who came to know her, knew her love and wisdom. She leaves a legacy to each of her children of what life can hold when you are good, fair, and kind. Nancy is survived by her husband, Anibal; her children and their families, Patricia and Milton Hernandez, Evelyn and Michael Lorenzoni, Almonica and Ernesto Molina, Benedicta and Bill Davis, Anibal “Jose” and Maria Gonzalez, Nancy and Angelo Lorenzoni, Victoriano Gonzalez, Milagros and Eddie Ramos, Florentino Gonzalez and Itamar Galarza, Rosa Gonzalez and James Lang, Victor Gonzalez and Kathy Galarza, Gonzalo Gonzalez, Celestino Gonzalez, Angela Gonzalez and Damare Porter, Cesto Gonzalez and Brittany Padula; and she was blessed with over 50 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She always held close to her heart the memory of her baby granddaughter, Annika Serenity Gonzalez. She will be remembered by her sister, Betty Jane Hallam, her brother and sister-in-law, Ricky and Joan Hallam; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. Many in her neighborhood called her Mom because she loved them and opened her home to them. Nancy’s family is grateful to the staff of the Special Care Unit at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center for their compassion, patience, and kindness; as well as to Father Anthony P. LaFache for his prayers and inspiration. Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 3:00–5:00 at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church, 702 Columbia St., Utica. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Nancy’s Prayers of Remembrance will commence on Sunday afternoon immediately upon the conclusion of visitation.
