Mrs. Nancy M. (Clarke) Evans

UTICA – Mrs. Nancy M. (Clarke) Evans, age 88, went home to heaven on Saturday, March 21, 2026, where she was reunited with those who went before her. Born in Utica on October 7, 1937, Nancy was the daughter of the late Francis and Minnie (Lee) Clarke. She attended Kemble St. Elementary School and was a proud graduate of Utica Free Academy, Class of 1956. Nancy married Kenneth Evans, and the two shared a loving and devoted partnership. They deeply appreciated one another and were blessed with three children, who enriched their lives. Her beloved husband, Kenneth, predeceased her. She began working the evening shift at Abelove’s Linen Company before later being employed at Eden Park Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide. She found great fulfillment in caring for others and did so with true dedication. In a meaningful turn of life, she eventually made her home at The Pines at Utica, the facility now known by that name—a place that was very familiar to her. Above all, her children were her greatest priority, and she was a devoted mother. When her grandchildren entered her life, they brought her immense joy. She loved doing crafts and activities with them around the house, always finding ways to keep everyone happily engaged. She also enjoyed helping with Boy Scout Troop 74 and camping in the Adirondacks when her children were younger. Above all her accomplishments, she will be remembered as a loving mother and a compassionate presence in the lives of others. Nancy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Katherine Evans. During her life, she cherished the memories of her daughter, Cathleen Evans, and her son, Carlton Evans, who both preceded her in death. Her loss is also felt by her grandchildren, Luther, Lorie, Ricky, Carrie, Tabitha, Lisa; great-grandchildren; siblings and their spouses, Sarah and Ronnie Borek, and Alfred and Mary Lou Clarke. She was additionally preceded by her sisters, Rosa Landry, and Nellie Hapeman; brother, Steven Clarke; and her brother-in-law Warren Evans. She also leaves her niece, Rosie; nephew, Eugene; great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. The Evans family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Pines at Utica for the compassionate and exceptional care they provided, which brought great comfort to Nancy and to all who loved her. In keeping with Nancy’s wishes, the family will honor her life privately. Whenever you think of Nancy, recall her standing strength and her dedication to her family.
