Nancy E. Conino-Santucci

UTICA - Mrs. Nancy E. Conino-Santucci, age 82, went home to the Lord when she passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the St. Luke’s Home with her loved ones by her side. Born in Utica on September 26, 1935, Nancy was the daughter of the late Antonio and Carmella (Valenti) Conino. She was raised and educated locally. At one time she was married to Luke O’Brien and to that relationship came the blessing of her children, Margaret, Luke Jr., Charles, Shaun, and the late infant Michael O’Brien. She was blessed with a daughter, Theresa, whose dad was Kenneth Dozois. Her youngest son, Ken, was fathered by Robert Williams. Nancy worked as a CNA for several area nursing homes including Broadacres and the Masonic Home. But much of her life was spent as a stay-at-home mom. Although Nancy spoke her mind, she had a unique sense of humor. Her smile and her expressive eyes could tell a story. She was a passionate Bingo player frequenting the former Sons of Italy Lodge, Greystone Bingo Hall, and any place she was able to get to. And, she could manage numerous Bingo cards at one time! She enjoyed 1,000 piece puzzles and when they were assembled, they were framed for remembrance. She occupied and sharpened her mind with word searches. Nancy is survived by her children and their loves, Margaret and Lawrence Palmer, Luke and Linda O’Brien, Charles O’Brien, Shaun O’Brien and his husband Mark Dziamba, Theresa Dozois, and Kenneth and Tonya Williams. She was predeceased by an infant son, Michael. She also leaves eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sisters and brother-in-law, Rosemary Azzarito, Joanne Spinks, and Patricia and Bruce Olmstead; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, sister-in-law Carol Conino, and the dear friends who blessed her life, including Betty Alderman, Florence Buttonchon, and her many Bingo buddies. She was predeceased by her brother, Andrew D. Conino; and her sister, Theresa A. Wild. The family extends sincere appreciation to the staff of the St. Luke’s Home/Clark West for the kind and compassionate care rendered to Nancy during her stay. Nancy’s family honored and commemorated her life at a private time. Interment in Calvary Cemetery will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
