Myrtle Irene (Jones) Dobrzenski

Myrtle Irene (Jones) Dobrzenski, age 88, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Steuben Valley, NY on July 1, 1926, Myrtle was the daughter of the late Henry and Bertha (Persons) Jones. She was raised locally and attended Holland Patent Central Schools. For 41 years, Myrtle was employed at Abelove Laundry, the position from which she retired. A strong-minded, hardworking matriarch, Myrtle was a loving mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. She was their Guardian Angel. Her home was always open to family and friends, and she treasured the many gatherings she shared with her loved ones. She will be remembered as a nurturing person who offered caring support to everyone in her life. She found enjoyment in baking, and in her leisure time, she played the organ, crocheted, knitted, and tatted lace. She had a special place in her heart for her canine companions, especially Chloe, and her parakeets. Through her journey of life, Myrtle often read her Bible during her quiet times. Myrtle is survived by her daughters, Maggie Ward, and Sandra Wilkerson, both of Utica. Always close to her heart was the memory of her daughter, Linda Mae Ward, who passed away on October 31, 1994. She also leaves her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Karen Dobrzenski of New Hartford. She was also preceded in death by her sons-in-law, Donald K. Ward, and Bradley G. Ward, Sr. She will be remembered by her 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; and her friend, Carolyn, who was like her daughter and her husband Barry Brown. She was predeceased by her brothers, Henry Jones, and Howard Jones; and her sisters, Hazel Vivian, and Anna Jones. The family is grateful to the nurses and staff of the Visiting Nurse Association, Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., and her dear friend, Carolyn Brown, for their loving care; and Dr. Steven LaGrant for his professional expertise. Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon from 1:00-3:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Myrtle’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Rev. Abe Esper officiating the ceremony.
