Michael A. Caputo, Sr.

Mr. Michael A. Caputo, Sr., age 63, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center following a brief illness. His loving family was by his side at the time of his passing. Born in Utica on May 1, 1944, Michael was the son of the late Nicholas P. and Mary (Getz) Caputo. He was raised and educated locally. A proud veteran, he served his country in the U.S. Army. At one time, Michael held a position with the Wonder Bread Bakery. On November 26, 2005 he was united in marriage with the former Kelly L. Quinn Reali to commemorate their 15 year commitment to one another based on their love and devotion. Michael once volunteered his efforts for the Utica Head Start program. He was an avid football fan of the Buffalo Bills. Michael is survived by his wife, Kelly; his son, Michael A. Caputo, Jr. of Utica; his daughters, Michele “Missy” Durante and Christine and William Sweezey, Jr. all of Utica. Also surviving are his five step-daughters, Christina Reali, Susan Reali, Tiffany Reali, Laurie Reali, and Kimberly Reali; and his four cherished grandchildren and four cherished step-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters and brothers-in-law, Josephine Caputo of Utica, Nicolina and Gary Tosella, and Marie and Scott Paterson, all of FL; his brothers and sister-in-law, John and Wendy Caputo of FL, and Patrick Caputo of Etna, NY; his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; his mother-in-law, Judy Paige of Poland; and his in-laws, Karen and Chris LaTour, Jeff and Chris Quinn, Korey and Steve Woodard, Tedd and Chris Quinn, and Ryan Quinn. He was predeceased by his sister, Jacqueline Baker, and his brothers, Nicholas “Butch” Caputo, Jr., and Andrew Caputo. Always close to his heart was the memory of his niece and goddaughter, Mary Rose Nickley, who preceded him in death. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, and staff of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center especially the Intensive Care Unit for their dedication, care, and friendship extended not only to Michael, but to his wife Kelly and children. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Michael’s Celebration of Life will commence on Sunday at 4:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Rev. Anthony LaFache officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience the family.
