Mr. Michael Jermaine "Mikey" Larges Brown

FRANKFORT – Mr. Michael Jermaine “Mikey” Larges Brown, age 42, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 31, 2024. At the time of his passing, he was in the hearts of those he loved dearly. Michael was born in New Hartford on March 3, 1982, at 7:35 a.m. to Betty Brown Jackson. During his life, he knew the love of his late stepfather, Robin B. Jackson. As a younger man, Michael attended Utica Public Schools, Margaret Chapman School, and Devereaux Kanner Center. Michael worked hard on his ABCs in aspiration of becoming more independent. In 2003, he moved to his forever home at the Colenzo ICF, later renamed Bleecker IRA. For a period of time, he attended the Armory Day Habilitation program in Utica, but preferred to spend his days at home with his favorite staff members. “Our Mikey” was a larger-than-life presence that everyone felt as soon as they walked into his home. Full of life and energy, he would often give hugs and fist bumps to the staff. One of the things he loved most was watching his favorite movie, The Lion King; the songs in the movie were his favorite part. He loved listening to all kinds of music and could often be found jumping up and down to the beat. He was obsessed with his TV, and his remote went everywhere with him. He loved to watch all sports – especially his beloved New York Yankees – court shows, the news, Law and Order, and Jeopardy! He also enjoyed spending time in the sun, lying on the hot pavement. Sometimes he would even take naps in the sunshine. He loved all things sensory, like having his head massaged or his face and forehead rubbed. He was a true “foodie,” and all his meals had to be smothered in ranch dressing! Michael relished playing catch with his big yoga ball and basketball with the staff. He also liked to ride in the van, with his preferred staff, and only when he was ready to. He didn’t much like outings, but when he did go on them, he enjoyed sitting in the van and holding hands with the staff while sightseeing. Michael was smart, spunky, and loving. He will truly be missed and forever remembered by every person he encountered. Bleecker IRA will never be the same without Mikey! Michael is survived by his mother, Betty Brown Jackson; sister, Helekia Brown-Daley and her husband Tabukie Daley; brother, Andrew Larges; his Larges grandparents; nieces, and nephews, LaMarcus Brown, Elias Brown, Davian Patterson, and Italyiauna Patterson; aunts and uncles, including Annie and Charles Collier, Elfredia Talley, and Samantha Brown; many cousins, especially acknowledging Evon Irvin, and Edward Ford; and his dear friend, Curtis Beavers. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Nelson and Lois Brown. Michael’s family would like to thank Upstate Cerebral Palsy for the many years of loving care they provided; Dr. Minhaj Siddiqi, an affiliate of CHBS; Pastor Mary Ford for her spiritual guidance; and Kori Turner for her daily love. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Michael’s Home Going Service and Celebration of Life will commence at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
