Michael LaBarbera

Mr. Michael LaBarbera, age 100, of New Hartford, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, with his children at his side. Born in Frankfort, NY, on November 11, 1906, Michael was the son of the late Paolo and Rosaria (Fratello) LaBarbera. He was raised and educated in Frankfort. On November 4, 1933, in Utica, he was united in marriage to Carmella Greco with whom he shared 59 years of marriage prior to her passing on October 1, 1992. As a couple, they were uniquely in love and dedicated to each other. During his working years in the transportation industry, Michael was employed by Associated Transport, Inc., as the Terminal Supervisor of the Northeastern States for 35 years until his retirement in 1968. He enjoyed spending summers with his family at their camp in Brantingham Lake, NY, and at his winter home in St. Pete Beach, FL. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Michael is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Norma LaBarbera; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Michael Calenzo, of St. Pete Beach, FL, and Serena and Richard Cannarelli, of Nokomis, FL; ten grandchildren, Michelle (Donald) Anastasi, of Needham, MA, John (Elizabeth) Aliasso, of Fayetteville, Camille (Sam) Scampone, of Utica, David (Kathy) Aliasso, of Old Forge, PaulaJean Halton, of Long Island, and cherished the memory of her late husband Michael Halton, Michael (Christine) LaBarbera, of New Hartford, Paul LaBarbera, of Utica, Carla (Bryce) Renders, of Albany, Richard Cannarelli, of New York City, and Stephen Cannarelli of New York City; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Josephine Cotellesse, of Las Vegas, NV; a sister-in-law, Constance Isgro, of Utica; a step-sister-in-law, Rose Gamello, of Utica; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph LaBarbera and Charles LaBarbera, and one sister, Rose Tucci. Visitation will be held Sunday (today) from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations in Michael's honor to his family enabling them to aid the recipients of Comfort Care; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Michael's funeral service will commence on Monday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will take place in Calvary Mausoleum.
