Michael J. Guido

Mr. Michael J. Guido, age 43, of Utica, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 11, 2012 when he unexpectedly passed away at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with the love and support of his family by his side. Michael was born in New Hartford on March 3, 1969, the son of Richard A. and Rose Marie (Gemedschiew) Guido. Raised and educated in Utica, he attended Wetmore Elementary School and graduated from T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1987. He furthered his studies at HCCC. On June 26, 2004 he married the former Tracey (Ernst) Byrd with whom he shared love and reciprocal respect. These qualities enabled them to love so openly and care for the blessing of all the children in their marriage. Michael began his employment at ACS in 1996, and was currently a senior Customer Service Representative with the company. Michael was a great listener with a perpetual smile on his face and a palpable ‘giggle’ that was unique. He was a caring and compassionate man who put the needs of his family first. He had a mellow personality, yet he presented a vibrant persona. He felt that his greatest accomplishment in life was to be blessed with such a loving and caring family. Michael could always be counted on to help others, including watching the kids or babysitting. He didn’t mind that task because his children and grandchildren were at the top of his list and he loved them from the bottom of his heart. He was a sports enthusiast and supporter of the Pittsburg Steelers, New York Yankees, NASCAR especially the Earnhardts, and also frequented hockey games. But the sporting events he supported with the greatest passion and commitment were those of his children. Michael is survived by his wife, Tracey; his parents, Richard and Rose Marie; his children, Shannon, Samantha, Shayla and Ronald Byrd; and his grandsons, Anthony and Logan. He also shared his life and his home with several of his nieces and nephews, including Dominick, DeVan, and Alexis. He also leaves his sister and brother-in-law, Christine M. and Richard Carbone of FL; his brother, Richard A. Guido, Jr. of Ithaca; in-laws William and Pauline (Hoover) Gromling; maternal grandmother, Eugenia Gemedschiew; paternal grandmother, Amelia (Testa) Guido; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, especially aunt Josephine Terzo, and cousins, especially acknowledging John Brockway III; godparents Joseph Olmstead and Diana Owen; in-laws; and his best buddies, Jeff Primarola, and Jimmy Mancuso. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Gregor Gemedschiew, and Flaminio "Flam" and Anna Guido. The family is grateful to the nurses and staff of the ICU at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, especially RN Vinny Sawance who was truly “the best”. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Michael’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Tuesday morning at 11:30 from the funeral home and at 12:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Anthony P. LaFache and Deacon Bill Dischiavo. Committal prayers and interment will take place graveside at Calvary Cemetery.
