Melissa Ann Tartaglia

UTICA - Melissa Ann Tartaglia, age 48, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 1, 2018. Born in Rome, New York on July 23, 1970, Melissa was the daughter of Joseph A. “Joe Tag” and Lorraine J. (Rizzo) Tartaglia. She was a graduate of Utica Senior Academy. At one time she was married to Tony Rogers Maggio, Sr. and to that relationship came the blessing of three children and a lifelong friendship. Tony passed away on July 5, 2015. Most recently, Melissa was employed by Casa Imports as a Purchasing Assistant, a position she enjoyed. She was a very loving and devoted mother, and the needs of her children were always her priority. She was all heart and always laughing. Melissa treasured time spent with family and friends, and they will miss her more than words can describe. She was loved by many, and will always be remembered for her sweet smile. Melissa is survived by her daughter, Gianna Maggio and Drake Walls; her sons and daughter-in-law, Tony Rogers Maggio Jr., and Joseph and Kristie Maggio; her parents, Joseph “Joe Tag” and Lorraine Tartaglia; and her brother, Anthony F. Tartaglia and Jacqueline. She also leaves her aunts and uncles, Anthony F. “Toto” and Mary Grace Rizzo, Anthony and Diane Tartaglia, and Roger and Marilyn Tartaglia; great-aunt Carmella Louisa Walawender, great-uncle Joe Sweet; nieces and nephews, Kayley and John, Santino, Russell, Antonia, Gianni and Mia, and Lucas; cousins, especially acknowledging Debbie and Joe Priore and their son Joseph, Jr. who was her godson, Kim, Kayla and Victor Rizzo; favorite cousin who was more like a brother, Joseph and Tonya; her many friends, with special mention of Keri, Michele, and Donna; close friend of the family, Angela Hagg; and her “grandbabies”, Bruno, Calagero, and Capone. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Anthony “Blackie” and Josephine Tartaglia; maternal grandmother, Theresa Fraccola; and paternal grandfather, Anthony F. Rizzo. In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Melissa’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday morning at 10:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish offered by Rev. James Cesta.
