UTICA – If you are reading this obituary, I, Melissa Danielle Miller, age 54, departed from this life on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. I will dearly miss my life and loved ones. I was born in Utica on July 24, 1971, a daughter of the late Robert Henry Miller and Leslye (Dorsey) Simon. I was educated in Utica schools and received my degree graduating from U.S.A. of Proctor in June of 1989. I also attended MVCC and earned an associate's degree in occupational studies as an administration specialist from Utica School of Commerce. Following my high school education, I was employed at A.C.S., previously located on Bleecker St., for over 11 years. My family I leave behind who I cherished most, my beloved Julius Peak, with whom we shared over 11 years; my children and their loves, Chappell Miller-Carter, Jr., Ganelle Miller-Carter and Billy Hughes, DaJanay Miller-Peak, and Nigel Miller-Peak; darling grandchildren, Gianna Rios, Jayden Carter, Natyre Hughes, Nature Hughes, Fortune Ross, Peanut, and Naiomi; siblings and theirs spouses, Tonia Chandler, Tanesha and Cory Johnson, Monica and Zack Lane, Rabb Hamid and Chanice Bennett, the late Ja’mon Miller and Christy Stubbs, Antoine and Dominique Miller, and Tillman Davis and Michaela Jones Davis; maternal grandmother, Annabelle Dorsey; “Second Mom,” Hattie Chandler; Prominent Maternal Figure, Elise Baker; special goddaughter, Kieonna Wallace; nieces and nephews, Danielle, Khalique, Ebonee, Nasire, Ralphy, Kyle, Jordyn, Kmari, Khairi, Nyaishia, and Ishmarai; aunts and uncles, Jody and Nicole Dorsey, Jai and Erika Dorsey, Sonny and the late Arlene Miller, Marie and Ruben, Patricia “Cookie” and Rudy, and the late Janet and Cliff Billins; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and the entire Miller family. I further leave behind my extended family, the Peaks; special friends, Les Carter, Kelly H., Alicia R., Alicia H., Sonja, Gina C.; and the entire “Terrace” family. I was preceded by my paternal grandmother, Rosa Mae Miller; and maternal grandfather, James Dorsey. I love you all. May we all one day rejoice to God and give Him praise that is due. My family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers of MVHS Rehabilitation and Nursing Center (formerly the St. Luke’s Home) and to the dedicated nursing staff on the 5th floor of Wynn Hospital for the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion shown throughout my journey. A special thank you is extended to nurses Ashley and Ismar, whose attentiveness, professionalism, and genuine concern brought comfort and support during a difficult time. Thank you as well to Anabelle Dorsey who faithfully accompanied Melissa during her chemotherapy journey. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Melissa’s Home Going Service and Celebration of Life will commence at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
