Mary D. (Petrone) Geraci

Mrs. Mary D. (Petrone) Geraci, a native Utican, in her 101st year of life, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 while vacationing in Connecticut. She was surrounded by the love and comfort of her family at the time of her passing. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Frankie Graham Geraci, who passed away in 1974 after 44 years of marriage. Mary is survived by her son, Attorney F. Phillip Geraci, JD of New York City; her daughter, Dr. Lois Geraci Ernst, Phd., founder of Advertising to Women, Inc. in New York City and Mary’s beloved son-in-law John Louis Ernst, of New York City; her brother, John R. Petrone of Utica; her niece Sister Rose Garramone, OSF, Syracuse; and her grandchildren, Ann Ernst Coletti and her husband Alessandro, Catherine Ernst, and Christine Ernst Bode. Always close to her heart was the memory of her granddaughter, Laura Ernst Downey. She also leaves her Maltese “granddaughters”, Daisyvue, Dolly, and the late Miss Daisy Geraci. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, including Louis Petrone and his wife Mary Lourdes Petrone, (who she loved as a 2nd daughter), Joan Petrone McCarthy, and their families; and Maurice and Kay Petrone and their daughters, Linda and Patty; and Philip Geraci and Betty nee Geraci; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, including closely regarded members of the Maggiolino and Turi families, her godchild, Jean Marie Suppa; and her sister-in-law, Rocatelle Petrone and her family. During Mary’s lifetime she was blessed with many gracious friendships including that of the late Lula King, her very best friend, as well as Jimmy Talerico of Lancaster, PA. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Louis Sr. and Antonia (Marino) Petrone, her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Fannie A. and Frank Garramone, as well as her sister and brother-in-law Angeline and Frank Carbone; and her brother Louis A. “GiGi” Petrone, Jr., and her cherished brother and sister-in-law Maurice, Sr. and Mary (Cafarelli) Petrone. The family wishes to thank Mary’s great-nephew, John Petrone and his wife Andrea, for graciously opening their hearts and home at this difficult time. Visitation will be held Sunday (today) from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. The family will be departing the funeral home privately and respectfully invite friends to Mary’s Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life which will be held on Monday afternoon at 1:00 at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. The family will also receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass for those unable to attend Sunday visitation. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery alongside her husband, Frank.
