Mary L. (Stocco) Risucci

Mary Louise (Stocco) Risucci, age 88, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Sitrin Health Care Center with her devoted family by her side. Born in Utica on April 17, 1927, Mary was the daughter of the late Carl and Rinda (Petti) Stocco. Mary was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1945, and furthered her studies at the Utica School of Commerce. She was also a student of the Parker School of Music and was certified to teach piano. At one time, she was married to the late Michael D. Risucci, and from that relationship came the blessings of three wonderful children. Mary held employment at the former Chicago Markets for 35 years and later at the Great American Grocery Store as a Head Cashier. She was a valued member of the team and successfully opened numerous stores in their network. She retired from the workforce in her 70’s to care for her own mother. She honored the values of a hard work ethic, and she instilled the importance of these attributes in her children. Mary hailed from a tight-knit family where core values and traditions were learned at the dinner table. As a single mom, she devoted herself to raising her children to cherish the wisdom and life lessons gleaned from the generations that came before them. Mary was outgoing and social, always helping family and friends. She babysat for all her grandchildren to help her children with their busy lives. She was a great homemaker and a wonderful cook, and loved ones always gathered around her table to enjoy her delicious cuisine. She was also a gifted baker sharing her delectable desserts and confections with those close to her heart. Mary was altruistic, amiable, and always on the go. She loved to keep in touch with her friends, lend an ear, and share special moments with a daily phone call. She was an avid reader of romance novels and kept her mind active by solving crossword puzzles and playing mahjong. A devout Catholic, Mary was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She attended Mass and recited the rosary regularly. Mary is survived by her children and their spouses, Michael and Cheryl Risucci of Florida, Carla and Frank Percia of Utica, and Scott and Deanna Risucci of Deerfield; her grandchildren, Michael and Michelle Risucci, Christopher Risucci; Dana and Jim West, Michael Percia and Mei Ling Xue, and David and Dana Percia; Genna Risucci, Carissa Risucci, and Domenica Risucci; and her great-grandchildren, Gianluca Risucci, Mia West, Dominick Percia, and Julian Percia. She will also be remembered by several cousins especially acknowledging the love of Grayce Tofolo; several nieces and nephews including, Greg and Kathy Norden, David and Trisha Norden; her great-nieces, great-nephews, her brothers-in-law, Axel Olaf Norden, Arthur Risucci; and her loved ones who were close to her heart, Carol and Tom Trinco, Palma Percia, Nancy DeMartino, and Lilliana and Paolo Napolitano. She was predeceased by her sister, Gloria Louise Norden, a special aunt and uncle Anna and Joseph Tofolo; and her in-laws, Virginia and Richard Montero, Antoinette and Nicholas Fulfaro, Nicholas Risucci, Richard Risucci, Ronald and Marion Risucci, and Kathleen Risucci. The family extends their appreciation to Dr. Matthew Ulahannan for his gentle demeanor; and the staff of the Chestnut House at the Sitrin Home for the sensitive care and attention they provided to Mary and her family. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc, 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made to the Sitrin Health Care Center /Alzheimers & Dementia Care & Services; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Mary’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Friday at 12:00 noon from the funeral home and at 1:00 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Joe Salerno. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
