Mrs Mary D. (Ferrazzano) Maggiore

Mrs. Mary D. (Ferrazzano) Maggiore, age 91, went home to join her loved ones when she passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Siegenthaler Center where she was held in the hearts of her family. Born in Utica on January 24, 1924, Mary was the daughter of the late Sabatino “Tony” and Cora (Postiglione) Ferrazzano. She was raised and educated locally. On December 13, 1947 she married Salvatore R. “Sam” Maggiore with whom she shared a close bond and loving support throughout their 57 year union. Sam passed away on April 11, 2005. During her employment years, Mary worked at the historical Rhodes General Hospital in Utica, the General Electric Radio/Receiver Plant on Bleecker St. and the Light Military Division on French Road, retiring in the mid 1980’s. Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life centered around her family. She was selfless in her many acts of kindness. Her home was open to all and was the center of many gatherings on holidays as well as everyday dinners. She was blessed with culinary skills that were masterful. Mary treasured the trips she made with her daughter and the memories of many years of family vacations together. She especially loved the times they traveled to her son’s home in Big Moose Lake in the Adirondacks. A Catholic communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, Mary prayed the rosary daily for the intentions of her family. Mary is survived by her daughter, Patricia Jordan of New Hartford, and Robert Edic; her son, Rocco Maggiore of Big Moose Lake, and Wendy Smith; her cherished grandson and his wife, Christopher M. and Michelle Jordan of New Hartford; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Samantha, and Molly Jordan. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; and her sister-in-law, Domenica “Dee” Maggiore of CA. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Georgia Ferrazzano. The family is grateful for the compassionate comforting care of Dr. Stephen Graziano at the Upstate University Hospital, and the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. for their support not only at Mary’s home but also at the Siegenthaler Center during her stay. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mary’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday morning at 10:00 at St. John the Evangelist Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Kevin Bunger. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
