Mary L. (Fauteux) Lerch

Mrs. Mary L. (Fauteux) Lerch, age 83, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 14, 2012 in the comfort of her home. Born in Whitesboro on June 6, 1928, Mary was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Fauteux. She was raised and educated locally. She was preceded by her husband, John C. Lerch, who passed away on January 27, 1970. The mainstay of Mary’s life was being a good wife, a loving and caring mother, and a source of love and inspiration to her grandchildren and generations to follow. As a family, they had fond memories of times together, and Mary felt blessed that they always had food on the table and a roof over their head. Graced with a beautiful voice and the gift of music, she played the accordion, guitar, piano, and organ. She was also a passionate animal lover, especially felines, canines, and the beautiful birds that she enjoyed feeding. She felt especially grateful to have celebrated her 80th birthday with a party hosted by her beloved family. She also looked forward to the joy of Christmas holiday gatherings. Her creativity was also rooted in her well-cultivated floral garden that covered her front lawn. And many will remember her for her fun loving ways and her humble and genuine concern for others. Mary held a deep belief in her Lord. Mary is survived by her children and their spouses, Judy and Charles Lovenguth, Joyce and Mel Olin, Rosemary and Jerry Summers, Diane and Frank Raspante, Patricia and Carlos Matos, Pearl and Brian Savicki, Rickie Lerch, Anna Kimball, Rena Stone, Linda Lerch Swartz, Marge Yaghy, and Gwendolyn Ventura. Mary also cherished the memories of her son, John Lerch, USMC; and her daughter, Wendy Lerch, who preceded her in death. She also leaves her many, many grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Among those left to treasure her memory are her companion, Edward “Mike” Hensel, with whom she shared 25 loving years. She additionaly leaves her brother, Douglas Fauteux; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and her neighbor and longtime friend, Mrs. Delores Gaston. She was predeceased by 1 sister, and 2 brothers. In keeping with Mary’s wishes, her family will gather at a private time to honor her life.
