Mrs. Mary M. (Marino) LaRocco

UTICA – Mrs. Mary M. (Marino) LaRocco, age 93, a native of Utica, departed this life on Thursday, February 26, 2026, with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on April 4, 1932, Mary was the daughter of the late Albert and Catherine (Cittadino) Marino. She proudly graduated from T.R. Proctor High School with the Class of 1950. As a young woman, she managed local theaters before beginning a 25-year career as a telephone operator with New York Telephone Co., retiring in 1986. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, John A. LaRocco, with whom she shared over 57 years of marriage prior to his passing on March 8, 2014. Mary was a devoted parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and later of Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Lourdes Campus, formerly known as the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. She dedicated much of her time to parish life and was a proud member of the Altar Rosary Society and the Franciscan Order. Mary is survived by her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Jane; cherished grandchildren, Erika and Mike Yacobucci, Amanda Gazelli and fiancée Bryan Catalano, Italia and Garry Rose, Anthony LaRocco Jr., Jennifer and Pete Duniec, and Michelle and Chad Ciallelo; adored great-grandchildren, Craig, Kaylee, and Joseph Gazzilli; Gabriella, Santina, Gianna, and Angelina Yacobucci; Tyler Hocking and Mikaela Duniec; Ava and Michael Ciallelo; and Danika and Jack Rose. She is additionally survived by her sister-in-law, Loretta Moccaldi; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Mary held close to her heart the memory of her siblings and their spouses who preceded her, Catherine and James Montrose, Tony and Lucy Marino, Jennie and Nick Risucci, Rose and Bob Moccaldi, Clara and Dino Mastrangelo, and Anna and Tony Moccaldi. She was also predeceased by her niece, Camille Caulkins; nephews, Jimmy and Tony Moccaldi; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anthony and Adeline (Notaro) LaRocco. In honoring Mary’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mary’s Memorial Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life which will commence on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Lourdes Campus, 2222 Genesee St. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the conclusion of the service. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. staff for the care and compassion shown to Mary and her loved ones during their time of need.
