Mary (Basilio) Favale

Mrs. Mary (Basilio) Favale, age 94, of North Utica, passed away on Tuesday, January 08, 2008 with her loving son by her side. Born in Italy in the province of Acquino on August 5, 1913, Mary was the daughter of the late Rocco and Carolina (Petrilli) Favale. She came to the United States and to the Utica area. In 1933 she married Charles M. “Charlie” Favale. The couple relocated to New York City for a number of years, returning to Utica in 1965. A devoted wife of 49 years, Mary honored the vows of her marriage to Charlie who passed away on May 15, 1982. Mary was an exceptionally devoted wife and mother. She was raised with traditional values that she honored each day of her life and she was a fine example to her family of what a good woman should be. She kept a meticulous house and was a gracious host and a grand cook. Her family will savor the many memories of the occasions she entertained at family gatherings. Her children, grandchildren, and home were her pride and joy. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Mary is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dino, Sr. and Alicia Favale of FL, and Mario J. and Betty Favale of Whitesboro; her grandchildren, Cindy and Michael Floor of Wallkill, NY, Dino, Jr. and Katie Favale of Chicago, Susan and Randy Plyler of FL, Dr. Alicia DeTraglia and husband Joseph of Clinton, and Jennifer and Garrett Zyskowski of Whitesboro. She was preceded in death by her infant grandchild, Gina. She also leaves her great-grandchildren, Ksenya; Aedan; Joseph and Lydia Rose; and Benjamin; her sister, Lena Petrillo of Utica; her many nieces, with special mention of Pam Fuoco who was respectful of her aunt with her visits, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Clotilda and Joseph Iannone, Dorothea and Thomas Fuoco, Antoinette and Joseph Mancuso, and Palmira Basilio; and her brother-in-law, Joseph R. Petrillo. The family offers sincere thanks to the Oneida County Office for Aging, and the staff of the St. Luke’s Home, especially the Clark North Unit, for their positive and compassionate care of Mary. In keeping with Mary’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 11:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
