Martha M. (Adamany) LaBrie

Mrs. Martha M. (Adamany) LaBrie, age 95, of Utica, passed away on Thursday, October 07, 2010 at the St. Joseph Nursing Home. This part of Martha’s journey was embraced with the support and love of her devoted family. Born in Utica on January 7, 1915, Martha was the daughter of the late Aid and Moubaraky “Anna” (Hamjy) Adamany. She was raised in Utica and attended local schools. It was in St. Louis Gonzaga Church that she married Maurice LaBrie on September 15, 1940. Martha and Maurice shared a union of 64 years prior to his passing on February 9, 2005. Martha for several years worked outside of her home at various sewing companies, including the Oneita Knitting Mills and lastly at the Lazare Loungewear Company retiring in 1982. Martha was always happiest spending time with her family and friends. Because she enjoyed cooking, it was a special pleasure for her to prepare and serve holiday dinners for her loved ones. Among her other favorite pastimes, she loved to crochet and created many beautiful afghans. She also liked to shop, especially with her sister, Rose. She enjoyed watching television, such as game shows, ice skating events, old movies, and Lawrence Welk. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Louis Gonzaga Church and at one time was a member of the St. Mary’s Guild. Mrs. LaBrie is survived by her daughter, Patricia LaBrie of Liverpool, NY; two sons and daughters-in-law, Maurice, Jr. and Camille LaBrie of Brockport, NY, and Richard and Natalie LaBrie of Chicopee, MA; her grandchildren, Jeffrey LaBrie of Camden, NY, and Gregory and Jennifer LaBrie of Abilene, TX; and her great-grandchildren, Troy LaBrie; Adam and Meagan LaBrie; and Spencer LaBrie. She is also survived by a sister who was also her best friend, Rose M. Dote of Utica; 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, Abraham and Donna Adamany of Utica, and Samuel Adamany of Richfield Springs, NY; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and her brother-in-law, Leo LaBrie. She was predeceased by her in-laws, Matie Adamany, Yvonne & Richard LaVoie, and Romeo and Dorothy “Dot” LaBrie. The family is appreciative of the kindness and compassion offered to Martha and her family during her time in comfort care with them. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-5 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. The Prayer of Incense will be offered on Sunday afternoon at 4:30 at the funeral home. Mrs. LaBrie’s funeral will commence on Monday morning at 9:45 from the funeral home and at 11:00 at St. Louis Gonzaga Church where the Divine Liturgy for the Faithful Departed will be celebrated by Chorbishop John D. Faris. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery.
