Marlene A. "Meme" (Sansone) Dockens

Mrs. Marlene A. “Meme” (Sansone) Dockens, age 60, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on August 25, 1952, Marlene was the daughter of the late Paul and Theresa (Gentile) Sansone. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of Whitesboro High School. In January of 2009 she married Gary R. “Doc” Dockens with whom she shared 4 years in a lasting union of love built upon mutual confidence and respect. Meme worked in the retail field for over 17 years in management at the Herb Philipson’s Store in Oneida. A caring and loving woman, she was the first to lend a hand, and the last to indulge herself. She was also unwavering in all her duties and endeavors both at home and at work. In her spare time, Meme enjoyed walking for exercise and reading passages from the Bible. She also took great pride in cooking for her loved ones, and she found great comfort in her feline companion “Teddy”. She was a longtime and devoted member of New Life Assembly of God Church in Oneida. Her faith and beliefs were strong and she traveled throughout the world assisting in missionary work. Meme is survived by her husband, Gary “Doc”; her daughter, Kimberly Ann Marshall of OR; her son, David Michael Marshall of GA; and her brother, Joseph P. “Joe” Sansone and Laurie A. Roberts of Vernon. She also leaves many nieces, with special mention of Jennifer L. Sansone, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, Bonnie Elliot, Sharon Meade, Terry and Ron Granier, and Agnes Nickerson. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Oneida Oncology, especially Angela; and the personnel of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. They all provided comfort and meticulous care to Meme. Visitation will be held Monday from 10:00-11:00 at New Life Assembly of God Church, 4704 State St. in Oneida. Meme’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will be held Monday morning at 11:00 immediately upon conclusion of visitation at the New Life Assembly of God Church with Pastor Dan King officiating. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be considered to New Life Assembly of God Church; envelopes will be available at the church. Interment will take place graveside in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
