Marlene T. (Abraham) Buttacaroli

Mrs. Marlene T. (Abraham) Buttacaroli, age 76, currently a resident of the Heritage Health Care Center in Utica, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on January 20, 1934, Marlene was the daughter of the late Fred and Domenica “Minnie” (Flo) Abraham. She was raised and educated locally and attended Utica schools. On May 19, 1956 she married Manning Buttacaroli who passed away on September 19, 2000. Marlene and Manning were inseparable, and their love and devotion remained strong during their 44 year union. Marlene worked hard at raising her family and caring for her home. She always cooked and baked for her extended family, especially during the holidays, times she treasured with her loved ones. With her beautiful sense of humor, she was the life of the party, and the entertainment, too, as she loved to sing and dance. She was a feisty woman, spirited, exuberant, and ready to take on the world. She was quick with a smile, but spoke her mind with conviction and was firm in her beliefs. During her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, bowling, watching movies, and taking her daily walks. When her family had grown, she took to caring for her dogs; the constant provider and protector to all. Devoted to her Catholic faith, she was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Marlene is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Katherine Irizarry, Linda and Frank Williams, and Robin Buttacaroli and companion, Frank Rosa, all of Utica; her son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Linda Buttacaroli of Frankfort; her grandchildren, Stacey Lagares, Philip M. and Shannon Buttacaroli, Paul Buttacaroli and companion, Giovanna LaVeck, Frank Williams, Jr., Samantha Irizarry and companion Gino Campos, Valerie Irizarry, Peter Buttacaroli and companion Sunni Zogby, Amanda and Frank Williams, and Marlana Williams; and her fifteen great-grandchildren. Survivors also include her sisters, Jeanette Brescia of Utica, and Donna Burgess of NH; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and in-laws. She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Frances Ann; her grandson, Louis; her great-granddaughter, Mariah Ann; and her sister, Lillian Abraham. The family is grateful to the staff of the Heritage Health Care Center and the personnel at the Dialysis Unit of Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center for their dedication and compassion in caring for Marlene. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00-5:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Marlene’s Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will commence on Monday morning at 8:00 from the funeral home and at 9:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church with Monsignor Francis Willenburg officiating. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
