Marie A. "MiMi" (Christiano) Arcuri

Mrs. Marie A. “MiMi” (Christiano) Arcuri, age 60, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2009 in the privacy of her home with the love and support of her family by her side. Born in Utica on March 3, 1949, Marie is the daughter of Fannie (Desiato) Christiano and the late Joseph F. Christiano. Raised and educated locally, she was a 1967 graduate of T.R. Proctor High School, and subsequently completed her course of study at the Utica School of Beauty Culture. On April 11, 1970 she married Nicholas L. Arcuri, Jr. with whom she shared 39 years; their love was true and they were meant to be together. MiMi began her career as a beautician with The Capri Salon, as well as several local establishments. She concluded her time dedicated to her profession with Joanne Fanelli Imaging Group, a business with which she was proud to be affiliated. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Friends and loved ones will always remember that MiMi had her own style and grace that was admired and appreciated by many. She was a savvy shopper who lived by the slogan “shop till you drop”. Her welcoming “aura” and style of living attracted people, and she always had something poignant or funny to say after touching others in a special way. There were so many times to remember, whether with family, friends, or clients; all were wondering what she would say or do that would create a lasting memory. One of her leisure passions were games of chance at the Casino. The power and the warmth of her heart never focused on her losses or the disappointing tribulations, but on good things and the joys of her life. She knew the blessing of being a mother and a grandmother, and her grandchildren adored her. She loved to hear every detail of their day, and she taught each of them the lyrics of “You Are My Sunshine”. And she certainly knew that life has its seasons. God came closest to her when her soul was in need of repose, and she was assured and comforted that all comes with God’s kind blessings. May your memory be the magical way of keeping MiMi near and ever close in your mind and heart --- to each of us comes a time of beauty and everlasting peace. MiMi is survived by her husband, Nicholas; her son, Nicholas L. Arcuri III of New Hartford; her daughter and son-in-law, Kim-Marie and John Kleaka of Webster, NY; her mother, Fannie Christiano of Utica; and her grandchildren who especially loved their Nana, Nicholas Jon, and Logan Tyler Arcuri; Taryn Marie, and Emerson Paige Kleaka. Also close to her heart were her sisters and brothers-in-law, Tina and Kenneth Dardano of Utica, and Phyllis and Phil Avella of New Hartford; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, godchildren, and in-laws, Joyce Shaffer, and Mary and David Matt. MiMi was also blessed with many wonderful and loyal friends during her life. She was predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nicholas L. Arcuri, Sr. and Florence Arcuri; and her brothers-in-law, Edward S. “Eddy” Arcuri, and Paul Shaffer. The family is grateful to Dr. Toby Taylor and his nurse, Dyan Sardelli; Dr. Mary Cunningham, Oncologist of Syracuse; Debbie Scully, massage therapist, as well as her family and the community for their unending support and prayers which assisted and uplifted MiMi and her family. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions in MiMi’s honor to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition Inc., or Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc.; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. MiMi's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Thursday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Msgr. Francis Willenburg. Entombment will follow in Christ Our Savior Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery.
