Mrs. Marie R. (DeTraglia) Pellegrino

Mrs. Marie R. (DeTraglia) Pellegrino, age 69, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Presbyterian Home for Central NY with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on January 17, 1946, Marie was the daughter of the late Peter J. and Mary T. (Cara) DeTraglia. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. On October 15, 1966, she married Robert J. Pellegrino with whom she shared 48 years in a beautiful union of love. They shared a partnership working together at the family business, Color Craft Interiors. The blessing of their two children completed and fulfilled their lives. Marie’s family was the core of her happiness, and her life force will live on through her children. Her strength of character was admirable and her generous nature was inspiring. Her many good deeds were done with love. She enjoyed making people laugh with her quick wit and sense of humor. In addition to adoring her children, her granddaughter was the “shining star” of her heart. She honored her Mother’s Italian recipes baking holiday favorites, which was a treasured family affair. Her creative talents were seen in her floral arrangements, heirlooms that her family will treasure forever. At times, she enjoyed trying her luck at games of chance. Many would remember hearing the sounds of her favorite artist Barbra Streisand playing throughout her home. Marie was of the Catholic faith. Marie is survived by her husband, Bob; her son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. “Bob” and Elizabeth “Beth” Pellegrino of Whitesboro; her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Theresa and Frank Noti of Frankfort; and her granddaughter, Victoria “Tori” Pellegrino of Whitesboro. She also loved and cared for her dog, Chloe and always remembered her past canine companions. Her extended family includes her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; in-laws, Rosemary Malerba, Carmen and Lucille Pellegrino, Beverly Pellegrino, Jeanette Pellegrino, Dominick Pellegrino, and Dee Pellegrino. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph A. DeTraglia, and Patrick A. DeTraglia; and her in-laws, Adeline and Larry Russo, Anthony Malerba, and Anthony Pellegrino. The family is grateful to Dr. Joseph Booth, Marie’s longtime physician and family friend, and his staff; the aides who cared for Marie in the comfort of her home, Adnana, Elvira, Binasa, Belmira, and Becky; and the personnel at the Presbyterian Home for Central NY especially the nurses, aides and staff of the Cedar Unit who were outstanding in the compassionate care they extended to Marie during her stay. The family will honor and commemorate Marie’s life at a private time.
