Mrs. Marie H. Hamilton

Mrs. Marie H. (Lazore) Hamilton, age 87, of New Hartford, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Presbyterian Home of Central NY with her loving family by her side. The daughter of the late John Mitchell and Hattie Lazore, Marie was born into the Akwesasne Nation of the Mohawk Tribe of St. Regis, Quebec Canada, Christie Island. On May 24, 1975 she married Herbert “Eddie” Hamilton with whom she shared 40 years blessed with a special man who catered to her needs; they were inseparable to the very end. At one time, Marie was employed by the former Genesee Nursing Home as a dietary aide, until 1980. She subsequently worked at the Human Technology Corporation as a sewing machine operator until her retirement. Marie was an understanding and supportive mom and grandma. She was fastidious with her home and her appearance - she was a wonder! Marie was a gentle soul and a free spirit in many aspects of her life. She handled life’s adversities very privately and was a survivor in so many ways. Holiday gatherings were important to her. During her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and playing Bingo. She was born into the Catholic faith. Marie is survived by her husband, Eddie; her daughters and son-in-law, Sherrie and Tripp Brice of NC, and Mary E. Dawson of Utica; and her sons and daughters-in-law, Everett and Pat Joyal, and Donald and Kathy Joyal, all of Georgia. Always close to her heart was the memory of her son, Roy Joyal/Ret. United States Army, who preceded her in 2000. She also leaves her grandchildren, Jason Langdon, Mikasha Dawson and Phil Palek, Lamika and Jerome Truss, Willijah Dawson and Anthony Morrison, Willjavian Dawson, Amy Joyal, Shannon Joyal, and Patrick Joyal. Close to her heart was the memory of her grandson, Octavian Dawson, who passed in 1981. She will also be remembered by her 14 great-grandchildren. She held the memory of her great-granddaugter, Miquajah Marie Dawson, who passed away on June 6, 1996. In addition, she leaves 3 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, in-laws, and longtime family friend, Tammy Warner, who was like an “adopted” daughter. Many thanks are offered on behalf of Marie’s family to the staff of the Presbyterian Home of Central NY for their care and concern; and to Marie’s family, loved ones, and friends who provided love and support to her during her illness. Visitation will be held Saturday from 3:00-5:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Marie’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday afternoon at 5:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Elder Anthony Morrison officiating the ceremony. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
