Marie C. (Peppenelli) Greco

Mrs. Marie C. (Peppenelli) Greco, age 78, was unexpectedly lifted to Heaven to dance with the Angels on Thursday, June 19, 2014 as she passed away in the comfort of her home. Marie was born in Utica on July 21, 1935 to the late James A. and Marie Antoinette (DeFazio) Peppenelli. She was raised and educated locally. Marie joined John J. Greco, Sr. in Matrimony on January 14, 1955. She was a dedicated woman, loyal to her friends, family, and others in need. Marie is survived by her beloved husband, John J. Sr.; her daughter, Charlene M. O’Neil of Utica; and her son, John C. Greco and companion Karen Knapp of Tennessee. Always close to her heart was the memory of her son, James Greco, Sr. who passed away on December 20, 2005. She will also be in the hearts of her grandchildren, Christina O’Neil and Michael Smithling, Krysta O’Neil and Paul Cooke, James “Jay” Greco and his fianceé Shawn Delsignore of Albany, James Greco Jr. of FL, John Robert and Heather Greco, and Ashlee Greco; her great-grandchildren, Reese Greco, and Michael and Isabella Smithling, and Jordan Cooke; her sisters, Dorothy M. Peppenelli, and Donna Peppenelli; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and sisters-in-law Sandra Peppenelli, and Sharon Peppenelli and brother-in-law Alan Greco of NC. Also left to mourn her passing is her lifelong friend Pat Thomas of New York Mills, Sharon Taylor, Eileen Reynolds, and Lisa Kelling Greco. She was predeceased by her sister, Delores Ann Peppenelli; her brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Ilse Peppenelli, Philip and Jean Marie Peppenelli, James “Mousey” and Mary Peppenelli, Anthony Peppenelli, and Joseph Peppenelli; her nieces, Phyllis Ann, and Shannon Lynn; her nephews, Philip Peppenelli, and David Peppenelli; and her aunts and uncles. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center for the care and compassion offered to Marie. The family will honor and commemorate Marie’s life in a private gathering. Funeral services and Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
