Marie (DeCarlo) Cittadino

Marie (DeCarlo) Cittadino, age 57, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with the love and support of her family at her bedside. Born in Utica on June 22, 1955, Marie was the daughter of Grace (LaParne) Pugliese and the late Patsy J. DeCarlo; she also knew the love and parenting of the late Frank Pugliese who she considered her Dad. Marie was a 1973 graduate of T.R. Proctor High School and furthered her education in later years at SUNY Institute of Technology where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. At one time, she was married to Peter Cittadino who was the father of her precious daughter. Marie’s social graces were evident as she served as a Bartender and “Dispenser of Spirits” in various East Utica restaurants. She was also employed for ten years at Upstate Cerebral Palsy where she worked as a Case Manager. Currently, she was a NY State service coordinator for the CNYDDSO. Marie embraced and lived by the often quoted words of wisdom, “Things happen for a reason, a season, or a lifetime”. She further believed that everything was governed and controlled by the Lord, a philosophy to which she surrendered with humility. Her spirituality was like a tapestry, a design interwoven with her trust in the Lord. In the light of her Christian values, Marie put her heart and soul into everything she did, all tasks great and small. Marie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Celeste M. and Raymond Ferguson of Utica; her mother, Grace Pugliese; her grandchildren, Brianna, Rayeanne, and Jared Ferguson; and her precious great-grandchild, Aiden. She also leaves behind her brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary DeCarlo of Bastrop, TX, Patrick and Theresa DeCarlo of Ft. Johnson, NY, Frank and Teresa Pugliese of Utica, and Carmen and Madelaine Pugliese of MA; her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Robert Conklin of Utica; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, several cousins, in-laws, her friend Melissa Hillage who was like a daughter to Marie; extended family, including Keila Bowens and her daughters, Ria and Rianne; and her godchildren, Julie Kiss, and Renee Gray. She was predeceased by her nephew, Billy Conklin. The family extends gratitude to the nurses and staff of the 6th floor at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center, the Faxton-St. Luke’s Regional Cancer Center, and Dr. “B” Butala, for the compassion and concern shown to Marie. A special thanks to the many family, friends, co-workers and all who have touched Marie’s life. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-6 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Marie’s Memorial service and Celebration of Life will commence immediately upon the conclusion of visitation at 6 p.m. with Pastors Tenolian Bell and James Griffin officiating the ceremony. Those wishing to express an act of kindness may make a donation to Faxton-St. Luke’s Regional Cancer Center; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
