Mrs. Marie A. "Timmy" (Paciello) Chiarello

Mrs. Marie A. “Timmy” (Paciello) Chiarello, age 96, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the Masonic Care Community of NY with the love and support of her family by her side. Marie was born in Utica on March 15, 1915, the daughter of the late Girardo A. and Marie Guiseppe (Fiore) Paciello; she was the last surviving child of ten children. She was raised and educated locally. On July 24, 1943 she married Alfred S. “Doc” Chiarello who passed away on Christmas Day in 1950. Timmy was admired for her devoted care of her husband during their unfortunately short marriage. From this union came the blessing of a daughter, Dina, who cared for her mother to the very end. During her working years, Timmy held an array of positions at area businesses including the local knitting mills, Kenwell Company where she laced baseball mitts, Uptown Shoppers City as a sales associate and the Mid York Library where she repaired book binders with precision. But her most important job was carried out at home where she worked as caregiver to her entire family, and a role model and friend to her daughter. Her family home on Lansing Street was the “haven” for all family occasions and all would say they were going “down the house” when visiting Timmy. She was courageous and nurturing at heart, and a snapshot of her life would include the dedication and care she unconditionally gave to her parents, siblings, and family. There was no one ‘quite like her’. She was thankful for the enthusiasm and energy to share life with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who truly adored her. She was a parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Timmy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine C. “Dina” and Joseph E. Russo, Jr. of Utica; her grandchildren, Joseph A. “Joey” Russo of Utica, and Christopher “Chris” and Crystal Russo of Rome; and her great-grandchildren, Ashley, Danielle, Gabrielle, Michael, Joseph, Mason, Samantha, and Brevin. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and very special and loving in-laws, Flora Gulla and her children Al and Sharon who showed their respect with calls and visits, and Blase and Carol Chiarello. Timmy held a special place in her heart for the members of the Tomassetti family, especially acknowledging Marilyn Sardina and Jacqueline Farrell who she considered family. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Dolores G. Paciello, Angeline Paciello, Christine and Thomas Fierro, and Theresa “Tessie” and Anthony Allocca; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Samuel “Sam” Paciello, Patsy and Stella Paciello, Rocco D. and Louise Paciello, Joseph and Helen Paciello, and Jerry A. and Lucy Paciello; her friends who were like family, Guiseppe and Daisy Tomasetti; and her in-laws, Louis A. Chiarello, Lucy Chiarello, and Dick Gulla. During this difficult time, Dina’s in-laws, Antoinette, John, and Phillip showed love and support to Timmy and Dina, and their kindness will always be in her heart. Dina wishes to thank the staff of the Woodgate Household at the Masonic Care Community of NY for the kindness and professional sensitivity shown to Marie. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please refrain from floral offerings. Marie’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday morning at 11:00 from the funeral home and at 12:00 noon at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. James Cesta. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. “Mom, if mothers were flowers, you’d be the one I’d pick.”
