Margarita Heredia Acosta

Margarita Heredia Acosta, age 59, of Utica, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2008 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Born in Puerto Rico on November 10, 1948, Margarita is the daughter of Leocadia (Vasquez) Melendez and the late Pablo Melendez. She was raised and educated in Brooklyn. Margarita was married to Felix Tomas Morales, Jr. who passed away in late 1971. She was blessed with a second union when she married Jesus Acosta. At one time Margarita was employed as a home health aide in Coney Island, NY. Hard-working and highly motivated, she was compassionate and caring when nursing her patients. She loved the simple things in life, especially being with her family, and best of all, her cherished grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping, music, (especially 60’s and 70’s oldies and Lionel Ritchie), jewelry, and Betty Boop. Margarita is survived by her husband, Jesus; her mother, Leocadia Melendez; her children, Carlos Rivera of New Jersey, Francisco Rivera, Ormuzd Morales, Margarita Isis Morales, and Felix Jr. and Tania Morales; her grandchildren, Jasmine Rivera and companion, Jose Rodriguez, Noelle Morales, Antionette Williams, Audrey Morales, Jasmine Morales, Nioca Morales, Bianca Morales, Eric Morales, Jason Morales, LaLa Morales, Felix T. Morales, Jr., Gage Morales, Hiram Sepulveda, Carlos Eric Rivera, Jr., Erica Rivera, Rosalinda Rivera, Angel Rivera, Miranda Rivera, Coby Rivera, Isis Ophelia Anderson, Nevaeh Anjali Earle, and Felix T. Morales, Jr.; and her 3 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include her sister, Carmen Soto of Utica; her uncle, Rafael Melendez of Puerto Rico; several nieces and nephews, especially acknowledging Danny and Sandra Lopez and their children, Luis Lopez, Jr. and Alyssa Lopez; Nelly Lopez and her daughter, Jasmine Burgos; and nephew Amadio Heredia; her great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, and her friend, Nelly Lopez, with whom she shared a very special relationship. She was predeceased by her brothers, Armondo Melendez, and David Melendez. Visitation will be held Saturday from 2:00-4:30 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Margarita’s Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Rev. Luis officiating.
