Margaret (Esposito) Garcia

Mrs. Margaret (Esposito) Garcia, age 94, of New Hartford, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at the Heritage Health Care Center with her family by her side. Born in Utica on May 5, 1912, Margaret was the daughter of the late Augustino and Almerinda (Graniero) Esposito. She was raised and educated locally. In 1927 she married John Garcia with whom she shared a union of 32 years prior to his passing in July of 1959. A conscientious parent and homemaker, Margaret lived for her children and dedicated herself to their well-being. In more recent years, she has especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She lived life to the fullest, with her main focus on her family and friends who were always her first priority and her greatest joy. Ever the jokester, Margaret was known and loved for her unique and funny sense of humor. One of her favorite pastimes was crocheting and over the years she created many beautiful Afghans which she generously gave away to her loved ones. Mrs. Garcia is survived by 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara “Bobbie” and Thomas Bonanza of New Hartford, and Judith and John D. Melito of Utica; a son and daughter-in-law, Rosario James “Jimmy” and Linda Garcia of Utica; and her grandchildren, John III and Antoinette Melito, Christopher Melito, Laurie and John Ungaro, John Garcia and his fiancée, Shonna Bosco, and James and Diana Garcia. She also leaves her cherished great-grandchildren: Olivia, Bianca, and John; Taylor; Arayla, Lorenzo; and Clarissa. Margaret was also anticipating the birth of her newest great-granddaughter whose chosen name is Carmella Nicole. In addition, her survivors include a sister, Rita Esposito; her nieces and nephews, especially acknowledging Louie Critelli and Sal Russo; a number of great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and her dear and special friends, Dorothy Ferris and Ellie Colucci. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Dominick and Harry Esposito; and 6 sisters, Lena Critelli, Elizabeth Campisi, Mamie Rich, Mary Esposito, Florence Esposito, and Jenny Russo. The family extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Albert Shaheen and to Dr. Dilip Kachare both of whom provided years of dedicated expertise in caring for Margaret. Thanks also to the staff of 2 South at the Heritage Health Care Center for the attentive and personalized care they offered and for the compassion they shared. Visitation will be held on Friday afternoon from 3-4 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Please omit floral offerings. Father Anthony P. LaFache will conduct a funeral service and celebration of Margaret’s life at the funeral home Friday afternoon at 4:00 immediately upon the conclusion of visitation. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
