Mr. Marco Augustino Rubino

UTICA - Marco Augustino Rubino went home to be with the Lord, his parents, and other family members, on Fathers’ Day, Sunday, June 18, 2023, at the age of 57. Marco was born in Utica to the late Sante and Yvonne (Gelders) Rubino on September 24, 1965. He attended Albany Street Elementary School, and graduated in the T. R. Proctor High School Class of 1983. He also attended M.V.C.C., concentrating his studies in Accounting. Marco was married to the former Rose Trombetta. To that marriage came the blessing of their son who they both adored. No matter what happened, they had a piece of each other’s hearts. Marco was devoted to the family landscaping business and had an intricate role in its development working alongside his late father and brother David, which is now known as Rubino’s Stone and Landscape. Many memories were made on those long hot days during many summer seasons. He was notably a long-time fixture and colleague at the symbolic Alfredo’s. Marco was the type of man who could brighten anyone’s day. He could make you laugh. A lovable man, he had the “gift of gab” and was a genuine, deep thinker. He possessed an intelligent mind and was truly an amazing man. Not all of us may know of his appreciation and knowledge of history. Marco also had an affinity for nature and animals. The greatest love in Marco’s life was his love of the Lord. He stood on that rock and could be honest. The Lord knew his heart. He had a personal relationship with the Lord and relied on Scripture. He spoke of his faith with conviction and compassion. Marco was a lifelong Mets fan… it was a Rubino thing! As an avid sports fan, he enjoyed Superbowl parties, World Series get-togethers, and boxing events. Nothing could top the pride he felt and savored when he was watching his own son, Marco, play the game of football or any other sport. Marco loved life, and his family was always in his heart. Marco is survived by his wife, Rose; and his son with whom he shared strong soul ties, Marco A. Rubino. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Marco A. A. Rubino, III and his mom Dawn Schmidt and his half-brothers, Jaden, and Jacob Schmidt; and Arabella S. Rubino and her mom, Harmony Speciale and her half-brothers, Justus, and Fabian. Marco’s memory will forever be cherished by his siblings and their loves, Leonarda “Lee” and Santo Tomaino, Elizabeth “Liz” and Anthony DeCarolis, Santina and Pat Gatto, Peter and Susan Rubino, Angela Rubino and Walt Becraft, and David and Francine Rubino. He cherished the memory of his late sister, Marcella Rubino (2014). He is additionally survived by a host of beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and additional family who reside in Belgium and Italy; his mother-in-law, Doris (Ashley) Trombetta and the late Rudolph Trombetta; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Darlene King (the late Harold King, Jr.), Debbie Campbell, Maria and Walter Hilley, and Debbie Trombetta; and was predeceased by Gino Trombetta, Frank Trombetta, and Linda Rose. Marco couldn’t have just one friend. He had the magic of many who he cherished and held close to his heart. Gratitude is extended to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office, an exceptional group of compassionate professionals who possessed the kindest of hearts. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church, 422 Tilden Ave. Anthony’s funeral service and Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 11:15 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery alongside his parents.
