Marcellus J. "Mark" Heimhilger

Mr. Marcellus J. “Mark” Heimhilger, age 76, of South Trenton, NY, was taken in the Lord’s hands on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the Abraham House with his family by his side. Marcellus was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Leneita Heimhilger, to whom he had been born on May 2, 1932 in Utica. Raised and educated locally, he was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. He attended M.V.C.C. and subsequently taught refrigeration and appliance repair. At one time he was married to the former Ginger Stoffle. Mark enjoyed a very fulfilling and varied career working at General Electric Company, Bendix Corporation, and First Student Transportation Services where he broadened his skills and plied his trade. In 1969 he established Mark’s Refrigeration and Appliance Repair Service. In business, as in life, Mark handled situations carefully and thoroughly; he lived by the philosophy that all your “i’s are dotted and your t’s are crossed”. As a father figure, he was honest, insightful, and wise. As a friend and family member, he was admired by many for the understanding, support, and guidance that he offered so sincerely whenever he could help. Concerned about things that influenced citizens’ lives, he was well-versed in the art of politics. He was of the Protestant faith. Mark is survived by a daughter, Melissa White and boyfriend Edward W. Wehrenberg, Jr; a son Steve Stoffle and wife, Cindy; five loving grandchildren, William White, Jr., Cassandra White, Triplets Jesse, Zoe, and Joey Stoffle; a sister, Alice Forrester of WV; a niece and nephew, Melody Hoff, Mitch Forrester and their families. Mark leaves his special companion and one of his best friends, Genevieve “Genny” Chapple; and devoted friends and caretakers, Ginger and Sam Carlo. He also shared a wonderful closeness with Genny's daughters, Ann, Theresa, Cindi, Mary, JoAnne and their families; and the blessings of many other loving and respectful friendships. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Matt Forrester. The family offers sincere appreciation to the staff members of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. who were so comforting and understanding. Their support has made a difference. Thanks also to the Abraham House, especially Lenora and the volunteers who assisted during a difficult time. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-6 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Mark’s honor to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., or the Abraham House; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mark’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Thursday evening at 6:00 at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Credle officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
