Mrs. Madeline (Sabino) Cittadino

Mrs. Madeline (Sabino) Cittadino, age 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Katherine Luther Residential Health Care Center. Born in Utica on September 16, 1925, Madeline was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Leone) Sabino. She was raised and educated locally. On Valentine’s Day in 1946 she married Dominick “Duber” Cittadino with whom she shared her heart for 26 years until his passing on November 22, 1972. At one time, Madeline worked along with her husband at their family owned and operated business, Jefferson Meat Market located on the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Catherine Street. More recently, she enjoyed her time spent at the Neighborhood Center preparing meals for the preschoolers. Her job continued at home where she cooked up marvelous meals for her family, all the while creating lasting memories, especially of festive holiday feasts complemented by her Christmas cookies and Sunday dinners that featured her fantastic sauce and mouthwatering meatballs. Madeline was a big fan of bingo and cards. She was a past member of a card club and was perfectly pleased when she won at her weekly ‘family and friends’ Pokeno night. She was also a fervent fan of Elvis Presley. She was a parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Madeline is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia “Cindy” and Carmen “Buddy” Luppino of New Hartford, Michelle and John Williams of FL, and Fran Aiello of Rome; her sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Debbie Cittadino of Rome, Robert “Bobby” Cittadino of Utica, and Sandy Cittadino. Always close to her heart were the memories of her sons, Dominick “Dosh” Cittadino who passed away on March 14, 2002, and Peter A. Cittadino who passed away on April 23, 2011. She will also be held in the hearts of her 20 grandchildren; many cherished great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Peter Anthony and Joanne Sabino of Utica, and Arthur and Shirley Sabino of FL. Her extended family includes her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, Theresa “Terry” Sabino, and Carmella “Mella” Cittadino. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Josephine C. and Salvatore P. LoGalbo Sr., Rose and Albert Martorella; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Joann Sabino, Sam M. and Terry Sabino. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Madeline’s Memorial Service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Friday morning at 10:00 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish offered by Rev. James Cesta. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
