Mrs. Lynda M. (Colangelo) Rosa

Mrs. Lynda M. (Colangelo) Rosa, age 69, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Bronx Household in the Masonic Care Community of NY with her loving family by her bedside. Lynda was born in Utica on May 29, 1943 the daughter of the late Frank A. “Hank” and Mary (Lucas) Colangelo. She was raised and educated locally attending St. Agnes Grammar School and Conkling Elementary, and graduating from T.R. Proctor High School. She furthered her education by attending B.O.C.E.S. where she received her LPN certification. On November 7, 1963 in St. Agnes Church she married Ronald Rosa with whom she has shared a blessed 48-year union that was filled with mutual love and devotion. After high school, Lynda worked as an assembler at the General Electric Company in the Radio/Receiver Department. She also held a job at the former Eden Park Nursing Home where she used her skills as an LPN. She was thereafter employed at the U.F.C.W. where she worked as a Medical Processor and Administrative Assistant, the position from which she retired. After retirement, she accepted a part-time position at the Charles T. Sitrin Health Care Center. Lynda was fantastic, fun, and one who made others feel special and laugh. She was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren, and she took great joy in attending their sporting events. Her personality was one that would draw others to her and then develop into a fast closeness. She was always willing to help and go out of her way for people. Holidays and birthdays brought her much joy, and she tried to make each of them a memorable celebration. Lynda loved having her family over every Sunday for dinner. She enjoyed camping in the Adirondacks and her yearly family excursions to Saratoga, Florida, and many other destinations. She liked to spend her time at the Casino and try her luck at games of chance. She was also loved dearly by her feline companion “Libby”. She was a communicant of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Lynda is survived by her husband, Ronald; her daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Nicholas Pastorelli of Whitesboro; her son, Frank Rosa and Robin Buttacaroli of Utica; and her grandchildren, Stephanie Rose and Mary Marissa Pastorelli. She also leaves her brother and sister-in-law, Richard A. Colangelo and Sharon Nardsone of Cooper City, FL; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws Cynthia S. “Cindy” Colangelo, Linda K. Colangelo, Angela M. Rosa, Isabelle Guido, John Rosa, Patrick Rose, Michael A. and Florence Rose, and Dominick Jr. and Carmella Rose. A testament to Lynda’s life is her many dear and cherished friends. She was predeceased by her twin brothers, Francis A. “Fran” Colangelo and Thomas A. “Tom” Colangelo; and her in-laws, Adeline and Frank Juliano, Raymond A. Guido, and Mary and Joseph DeGeorge. The family sends heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Masonic Care Community, especially the Bronx Household, for their devoted care and attention. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lynda’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday morning at 10:30 at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Those wishing to express an act of kindness in lieu of flowers may make a donation to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (F.T.D.); envelopes will be available at the service. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. Interment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
