Lucy F. (Attili) Abdoo

Mrs. Lucy F. (Attili) Abdoo, of Utica, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2007 at the Presbyterian Home for CNY, Inc., with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica, Lucy was the daughter of the late Bernardino and Adelina (DiGregorio) Attili. She was raised and educated locally. On April 16, 1938 she was wed to Joseph A. Abdoo who passed away on November 25, 1983. The couple enjoyed each other’s company immensely during their 45 years of marriage. Lucy was employed at the Masonic Home, retiring in September of 1983. A very outgoing and sociable woman, she was kind in her gestures and blessed with a pleasant personality which won her many friendships. She found joy and happiness in the love of family, especially her marriage, and in the blessings of her daughter and granddaughter. During her leisure time, she enjoyed dancing with her husband during their Saturday nights out with friends. She had fond memories of those days. She also loved holidays and gatherings with family. She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Society, and at one time she attended the East Side Senior Center, and the Forever Young Club at Perretta Twin Towers. She was a communicant of St. Louis Gonzaga Church. Lucy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ann Marie and Joseph Meyer of Utica; and her granddaughter, Stephany Lynn Meyer. Also surviving are her brother and sisters-in-law, Bernardino “Bernie” II and Olga Attili, and Lena Attili, all of Utica; her beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and sister-in-law, Helen Abdoo; her loyal and kind friends, especially June Abounader, and Grace Domenicone and Jacqueline Meyer. Lucy’s family thanks them for their support, love, and respect shown to her each and every day, and their many acts of genuine concern. She was predeceased by her brothers and sister-in-law, Joseph T. and Lena Attili, Jerry A. Attili, Sr., Anthony Spezzo, John Spezzo, and Francis B. “Frank” Attili; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose and Joseph Tremorello, Anna and Dominick Amadeo, Congetta Grasso, Angelina Attili, and Congetta Spezzo; and her in-laws, Alice and Michael George, Louis Abdoo, Amelia and Isaac Massoud, John and Susan Abdoo, Louis and Helen Abdoo, Catherine and Dominick Hiffa, and Albert and Mammie Abdoo. The entire family thanks Dr. Scott Brehaut, the staff of the Aspen Wing of the Presbyterian Home for Central NY for their genuine care and compassionate ways, and especially her niece Lucy Viti who embraced her aunt with such love and care. A special thank you is offered to Father Bassam Saade for his spiritual support. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. The Prayer of Incense will be offered at 6:30 at the funeral home. By family request, please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Lucy’s honor to the St. Louis Gonzaga Church fund in memory of Joseph and Lucy Abdoo; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Lucy’s funeral service will commence on Tuesday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and 10:00 at St. Louis Gonzaga Church, where the Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed will be celebrated. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
