Mrs. Lucy A. (Robilotto) Rondenelli

N. UTICA- Mrs. Lucy A. (Robilotto) Rondenelli passed away peacefully in her sleep with the love of her husband and family in her heart on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the age of 95. Lucy was born in Utica on January 29, 1928, to the late Dominick and Maria (Pape) Robilotto. She graduated from T.R. Proctor High School in 1946 and went on to Excelsior Business School, where she prepared for jobs that she would hold later in life. On June 6, 1959, Lucy wed James T. “Jim” Rondenelli. Their marriage was a “bond of togetherness,” with Lucy always wanting the best for her Jim and for their family—a marriage of the era. At one time Lucy was employed at Berger’s Department Store, and later at M & L Electric Company where she was responsible for the daily administrative operations of the office. She then worked as a teacher’s aide for the Utica City School District at the Seymour School for over 15 years until her retirement in 1982. Lucy’s husband Jim proclaimed her to be the most wonderful woman he ever knew, and remembers fondly her leadership in their lives. She was a supportive and loving mom, who always cared for her children’s needs and wants. As a mother, Lucy was wonderful and beloved, and as a grandma, she gave of herself as only a grandma can! She was equally loving and beloved by the next generation. Lucy was a talented woman in the kitchen—there was never a complaint about any meal! She was a hostess for many holidays and always exceeded the expectations of her guests. She loved to travel, feeling that she was able to renew herself on special cruises with Jim. She was proud of her documentation of family memories. She never missed an opportunity to take a photo and was proud of the many she collected and pristinely collected them in family photo albums. Lucy and Jim were members of the North Utica Senior Center, and enjoyed participating together in many activities. They made many friends and wonderful memories. Lucy knew the Lord and had a personal relationship with Him, and craved time to be at Mass in His presence. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Church, served on many committees, and prayed the Rosary regularly for the well-being and needs of others as well as her family and friends. Lucy is survived by her beloved husband Jim, her son James A. Rondenelli, and her daughter Linda and Paul Kowbel; as well as her grandchildren, Marissa and Zackery Merwin, and Alexa Kowbell; and great-grandchildren, Asher and Lydia Merwin. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins and her brother-in-law Richard Rondinelli and his late wife Nancy Rondenelli. She was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, Michael and Virginia Robilotto, Philomena R. Robilotto, Rose and John Lofaro, Josephine Robilotto, Nellie Robilotto, Rocco and Dorothy Robilotto, and Antionette (Robilotto) Dempsey. The Rondenelli Family would like to extend a special thank you to the 4th Floor at the Pines of Utica, from whom they felt and appreciated the love and astonishing care provided to Lucy. Jim was delighted by their personal attention to his beloved wife. They were wonderful in their communication and generous with their compassion. The family will commemorate her life at a private time. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial for Lucy at St. Mark’s Church, 440 Keyes Road, at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 16, 2023. There will be an opportunity to greet the family following the mass. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
