Lucille D. (Cangello) Trapasso

Mrs. Lucille D. (Cangello) Trapasso, age 85, of Utica, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with the love and support of her family by her side. Born in Utica on October 11, 1924, Lucille was the daughter of the late Ralph J. “Farmer” and Maria Madeline (Zammiello) Cangello. She also knew the love and guidance of her “Dad”, Edgar Palazzo. Raised and educated locally, she attended T. R. Proctor High School. At one time she was married to Anthony J. Trapasso. Lucille's work career encompassed a position as an assembler at the Sperry-Rand Corporation; the owner and operator of a local business, Trapasso’s Luncheonette located on Bleecker Street; and at the Catholic Charities Thrift Shop where she developed long lasting friendships with her co-workers and patrons. Later in life, Lucille was proud to have completed studies and held a certificate as a medical office assistant. Lucille was blessed with a generous spirit and the ability to share her views with concern. She overcame adversities in her life with an indomitable spirit, and her ability to unite her family was one of her greatest accomplishments. A huge Yankee fan, she was young at heart, and one of her daily stops included Parkway Drugs on Culver Ave. where she found “cherished friendships and lucky lottery tickets”. She was a communicant of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Lucille is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lois Ann and Thomas D. Pirro of Utica; her son, Kenneth Joseph Trapasso and Nina Longhini of Bolingbrook, IL; her grandchildren, Jason Pirro and fiancée Jennifer Loveless, Jeffrey J. Pirro, and Jonathan A. Pirro and fiancée Catherine Torruella; and her great-grandchild, Luccia M. and her mother, Carol Breen. Survivors also include her brother and sister-in-law, Angelo G. and Marie Cangello of FL; her half-siblings, Marlene Mazza of Utica, and Carl and Barbara Cangello of Jamesville; her nieces, nephews, especially acknowledging Michael Cangello who honored his aunt with great devotion; great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, and special sister-in-law, Josephine Cangello. She was predeceased by her brothers, Anthony C. Cangello, and Louis J. Palazzo. The family offers heartfelt appreciation to the CCU staff at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center; the outstanding professionals who were very attentive and compassionate in caring for Lucille. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Lucille’s funeral service will commence on Friday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
