Mrs. Lucia (Ciccone) Capirci

Mrs. Lucia (Ciccone) Capirci, age 97, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, with her loving family friend Jodi Cofano Olivadoti by her side and the staff of The Pines at Utica who blessed her with their compassionate care, especially acknowledging Evelyn. Born in Utica, NY on September 2, 1917, Lucia was the daughter of the late Joseph and Amelia (Neveri) Ciccone. When she was a child, Lucia and her family moved to Italy where she was raised and educated. While in Italy, she was united in marriage with Angelo Capirci. After having four children, the family relocated back to Utica. Angelo passed away in 1966. Lucia held employment at the Joseph & Feiss Company and retired after 33 years. She was a thoughtful, kind and reliable woman, unwavering in her love for family and friends. With her most enduring friendships, for over 40 years she enjoyed the camaraderie of the Friday night card games with “The Ladies”, Primina Monescalchi, Laura Alteri, Beatrice Iagnacco, Lavinia Forte, and Carmella Neri. She was a communicant of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church and a member of the Madonna Della Libera Society and at one time holding the position of secretary. She was also proud to have been a participant in the dedication ceremony for the blessed statue of the Madonna. Lucia is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Rose and Biagio Patane of Clay, NY, and Paula Nasto of Utica; her sons and daughters-in-law, Francesco “Ciccio” and Angela Capirci, and Franco and Diane Capirci, all of Utica; and Marie Capirci who Lucia loved like a daughter. She will also be remembered by her grandchildren, Peter Manzo and Linda, Steve and Margaret Manzo; Joseph Coco, Danielle and Steven Brucker, Christopher Coco and fiancée Tara; Stephen Capirci and Dawn, Joseph and Lynn Capirci, Joseph DiMasse, Dawn and Larry Finlon, Angela and Steve McDonnell, Marie Golding and Jose, and Donna Capirci; Lucinda and Emmett Salas, Mark Capirci and Wendy, Melissa and Fabian Perez, Diana Capirci; her many great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchildren. Her extended family includes many nieces and nephews, especially acknowledging Louise O’Connell and family. In Italy, a special niece Adele and husband Aldo, and Sandro, Mario, Anna, Teresa, Rosella, and Rosa. Her former sons-in-law, Michael Coco, and Patrick Nasto. She was predeceased by her infant granddaughter, Lucinda Capirci; her sisters and brother-in-law, Cora “Chickie” and Orlando Caniato, and Rocatella DiRuzza; her brother, Thomas Ciccone; son-in-law, Steve Manzo; and brother-in-law, Celestine Capirci; adored uncle, Amedio Capirci; niece, Arsenia Rose Caniato; nephew, Dr. George O’Connell; and cousins, Elmer and Mamie Ciccone. The family will honor Lucia’s life in a private gathering. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lucia's funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Wednesday evening at 5:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Mark Kaminski. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
