Luba (Dubyna) But

Mrs. Luba (Dubyna) But, age 83, formerly of Willow Lane in Frankfort for over fifty years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the Masonic Care Community of NY with her loving family by her side. Born in the Ukraine on August 13, 1926, Luba was the daughter of the late Prokip and Ewdokia (Lytus) Dubyna. Raised and educated in the Ukraine, she emigrated to Germany during World War II where she resided prior to relocating to the United States in 1950. In September of 1943, in the Ukraine, she married Mykola But, with whom she shared 30 years until his passing on January 12, 1974; the couple shared an enduring relationship built on a solid foundation of mutual respect and love. Luba possessed a strong work ethic that served her well during her many years of employment at the General Electric Company on Broad Street in the assembly department. She subsequently worked in the cafeteria at M.V.C.C., retiring in 2000. Her family and those who knew her will remember her warm generosity and the happiness she found in making her home a welcome place to all. In her leisure time, she found enjoyment in crocheting afghans, which were handcrafted and treasured works of art. She also found pleasure in gardening, and in more recent years, derived solace in reading spiritual books. As a person deeply devoted to her religious beliefs and spirituality, Luba lived her life in accordance with her Christian values. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church. Luba is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Katrina and Michael Immerman of LasVegas, NM, Nadia and Michael Caleo, and Vera Manino and John Garofalo, all of New Hartford, and Edie and Craig Pugh of Utica. Always close to her heart was the memory of her grandson, Joshua Immerman, who passed away on September 25, 2009. She leaves her grandchildren, Rachael Steele and fiancé John Moroney, Samuel Manino, Karina and James Hulser, Michael and Antoinette Manino, Dr. Michael Caleo, and Greta, and Marla Pugh; and her great-grandson, Michael N. Manino, Jr. Survivors also include her sister and brother-in-law, Lydia and Richard Janus of FL; her brother, Philip and Valentina Dubyna of New Hartford; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and brother-in-law, Peter Bridge. She was predeceased by her sister, Anne Marie Bridge; and her brother, Peter Dubyna. The family would like to offer a very special thank you to the entire Masonic Care Community and acknowledge the care and compassion of the 3 North-South staff, the 2 Master Mason staff, the Forestport household, and especially Judy, Donna, Llana, Carlos, Cindy, Shelley, Tekia, Shilo, Diane, Rodney, Mark, Barbara, and Ann Marie. Gratitude is also extended to Rev. Mark Caruana and the entire Tabernacle Baptist Church family for their constant prayers and countless acts of kindness. Visitation will be held Friday (today) from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Luba’s honor to the Tabernacle Baptist Church or the Forestport household of the Masonic Care Community; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Luba’s funeral service will commence on Saturday morning at 11:00 from the funeral home and at 12:00 noon at the Tabernacle Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Memorial Park.
